It's a Group Thing LII
Even though I forgot to do this on Wednesday, I still wanted to post a "It's a Group Thing" term is this week. Since BlogShares is the hot topic this week (you can buy Neurotic Fishbowl stock here), I thought it only appropriate to tip my hat to such a fun site. Therefore, today's term is:
A Commission of Brokers
For those of you who missed what this is all about, each week I will feature a term for groups of things from An Exaltation of Larks: The Ultimate Edition by James Lipton. I found the book really interesting and wanted to share it with everyone.

Plugins Used
I thought it might be cool to have a list of the MT plugins that I use here so if anyone wants to duplicate some functionality, they can. I found most of them through the indispensable MT Plugin Directory.
You can view the ones used on this site here.

That's cool because there are a few plug ins that you use that I have wondered what they are and where you got them. Gives credit to those who designed them too...
Posted by susan at April 3, 2003 08:10 AM
That is a great idea and you sort iluminated me on what some plugins did, just like Susan said. Thanks!

If so, will ya drop me a line? I had the same question. :)

Vegas, Baby!
Steven and I have made our plans for our annual Vegas trip and I'm, of course, really excited. We're staying at The Bellagio, our favorite hotel. If you've never been to Vegas, Bellagio (which means "beautiful lake" in Italian) is the hotel with the dancing fountains in front. You can watch a couple of shows here, including one of my favorites, "Singin' in the Rain."
We also bought tickets to the Blue Man Group show at The Luxor. They ought to be really great to watch and we're both really looking forward to that.
I figured a trip to Vegas was the perfect excuse to buy some nail polish from OPI's new Las Vegas Collection, so I picked up Cha-Ching Cherry, A Rose at Dawn... Broke by Noon, and Down to My Last Penny. I'll take any excuse to buy make-up.
The only snag with the vacation is that now we have Bella. We've never had a pet that we had to worry about kenneling or anything before, so I need to check around here and see if I can find some recommendations about where to leave her. Anyone in Houston know of any good places on the northwest side?

you will definitely love Blue Man Group. i saw them in Chicago and they were just soooooo awesome!!! i heard the Vegas show is even better! i can't wait to hear what you thought about them.
Posted by Kathy at April 3, 2003 08:49 PM
Like I said on the H-Town list, I owe you cat-sitting for when you have done it for me; let me know if you need help. I would be happy to either come by your place or take her in while you're gone. (I would just keep her in my room to keep everyone separated and happy! LOL!)
Posted by Christine at April 4, 2003 02:29 PM
You are totally gonna love the Blue Man Group. I saw them in Vegas two years ago when I went, and they were great! Completely impossible to explain when people say, "so what was the show like?" but great :)
And the Bellagio? Fancy fancy! :) I had a great view of their fountains last week when I was in Vegas (we stayed on the opposite corner, in the Flamingo). If you can one night, go to the top of the Eiffel tower at Paris (right across the street) and watch the fountain show from there at sunset (we did that 2 years ago). It was beautiful.
(Sorry for the monster comment, I'm Vegas-obsessed! hehe!)

I'll be in Vegas in October.

Reasons For Love #23
Every Wednesday those who are involved in a relationship with somebody share a few (simple but significant) reasons for their love. Please keep in mind that this does not have to be a romantic relationship. It can be about a parent, a sibling, a friend, a co-worker, your kid, your dog, whatever.
Stop in here to join the notify list, see who else has left their reasons, and to be added to the blogroll. Also, feel free to save the button below to your server and link it to http://www.neuroticfishbowl.com/reasons.html
I love Steven because...
- When he called me to tell me he was going out for drinks with a friend after playing golf today, he ended the call with, "Take a nap and when I get home I'll make you something yummy for dinner."
- He always brings me fruit to snack on (I love apples and oranges)
- He's taking me to Vegas
- He met the Dell repair guy so I wouldn't have to leave work
- He patiently looks when I show him all the new nail polish I've bought, though I'm sure he could care less

Take That, Bloggies!
Unbeknownst to me, I was up for and have now won an Anti-Bloggie! I won for Worst Meme Bandwagoner and while I'm not sure what that means exactly (I'm a lemming and do any meme that wanders into my field of vision, maybe?), I am still so proud.
Congrats also go out to Christine (Biggest A-List Suck-Up; it's so true!), Eka (Chronic Redesignitus), Chey (Best Use of Blog For Personal Benefit), Rannie (Most Often Late to Work), and Michelle (Biggest Whiner After Being De-Linked). I'm definitely in good company.

There wasn't a "running" - people nominated people. Sort of. And then the judges picked. Just two judges, and they are easily bribed. I love the judges... :D

Dell Hell
Dear Dell Tech Support,
The reason I bought an extended warranty on my computer is because I don't want to have to open it up and fuck around with things inside. I was more than patient trying cable connections a few times, but after a while, it's ridiculous.
The CD-RW does not even have a light coming on. The drive is obviously bad as we determined when you had me move the power supply and ribbon cables about five times. When you start wanting me to move pins around (whatever the hell those are), that's when I draw the line. Send somebody the fuck out here to fix my computer. I hate mucking around in the box and please explain to me why it's a good idea to have customers fucking around in there anyway.
I have a pretty good idea what I'm doing, but I would assume that most people would be uncomfortable with messing around in there; I know I am. Having me unplug and plug things in four or five times is obviously not going to fix something. If I had wanted to be a technician, I would have choosen that field. Instead I want you to come fix it for me. Thanks for finally understanding that an hour into our experience together.
I do think I will be sending a nasty letter to you, especially since the guy who I spent the most time with on the phone thought I was talking about an added DVD drive, though I must have said a million times that these drives came with it when I bought it.
To sum up, I don't mind doing troubleshooting with you, but when it comes to a hardware problem that can't be fixed without opening the box, that means send out a technican.
Sincerely,
Kymberlie the girl with the headache after fucking around with you all afternoon

Gina is not allowed to call customer support at Gateway anymore. They don't like it when you question there parentage.
Posted by ginadapooh at March 30, 2003 11:04 PM
They used to do that shit with me and I was a Dell certified technician (which meant I'd taken a battery of tests from them so that when I said "xyz" is broken, send me the part, they were supposed to say, "would you like that next day or overnight deliver?"). I hate annoying tech support - especially annoying tech support that you've paid out the ass to get.
Posted by Ciscley at March 31, 2003 12:36 PM
Remember how Dell was highly advertised? So was vioxx and they are both bad for your health. I had a heart attck taking vioxx and got a damn dell computer and almost had another one worrying with this piece of shit.I would burn the damn thing but its not worth a match. This is a foreign based outfit run by the gang.
Posted by Edith at August 7, 2005 08:58 PM
Dells customer support is worse than living through a war. PLEASE PEOPLE, DO NOT BUY A DELL, DO NOT BUY A DELL, DO NOT BUY A DELL!
