Gold Boxing Saturday
Some nice products in my Amazon.com Gold Box Offers today, but nothing that I felt compelled to purchase.
.: Ovations by Oneida Islet Stainless Steel Flatware, 53-Piece Service for 8: nice, but not a pattern I totally love. Pass.

.: Corby 5500 Original Trouser Presser: cool in theory, but I just don't need one of these.
.: Crain Cutter 500H Carpet Power Stretcher: I don't even know why one would need a carpet stretcher. Pass.
.: KitchenAid KGPA Mixer Attachment Pack for Stand Mixers: someday I will get Steven a KitchenAid Stand Mixer and when I do, I'm sure these accessories will be purchased as well.
.: Canon ZR40 MiniDV Digital Camcorder with 2.5" LCD, & Digital Still Mode: I still want a camcorder. Anyone care to purcahse one for me? ;-)
.: GoVideo DDV3110 Dual Deck 4-Head Hi-Fi VCR: we never use VCRs anymore and even if we did, we have like three of them in the house already.
.: Vacu Vin Guy Buffet Rapid Ice Wine Chiller, Sommeliers: we don't drink wine, so we don't really need a wine chiller. It could come in handy, though, for chilling shots if we didn't have a cold bottle around.
.: Juiceman JMS6 Blender with Variable Infinite Speeds: Steven already has a blender that works pretty well, so I'm going to pass on this.
.: Calphalon Commercial Hard Anodized Collector's Edition 9-Inch, 2-Quart Chef's Skillet with lid: Steven was tempted by this, but elected to pass and wait to get it.
.: Spiegelau Authentis Red Wine Glasses, Set of 6: since we don't drink wine, wine glasses aren't really needed. Pass.

I have that Mixer Attachment Pack (for my Green mixer!), and some of the things are really cool. I haven't used them as much as I hoped I would, but I know that I have them there when I need them :)

And a Good Time Was Had By All
Steven and I had such a great time last night with Heather and Charles, my friends from high school. We were going to have another girl we went to school with and her husband come over, but unfortunately he wasn't feeling good and they had to cancel on us.
It was so good to see Heather again. We were good friends in high school and both went to the University of Houston, but fell out of touch, especially when she and Charles moved to Philadelphia. We talked about band and the people that we had known, many whom I hadn't thought about in ten years. We all love The Matrix, so we popped in our copy of The Matrix Revisited since neither of them and seen it and watched it until they went home.
I hope we can see them again before we go back. We're also going to see if maybe a trip to Vegas would be possible at some point. I can only imagine Heather and I on the loose in Vegas together. Watch out, world!

Friday Night
I've got some old high school friends coming over tonight that I haven't seen in ages. We're going to have drinks at the house (Can you say piña colada? I knew you could!) and talk and then we're off to Lupe Tortilla for some yummy Mexican food. Two of them live up north, so I bet a decent fajita is fairly hard to find in Pennsylvania.
It's both exciting and kind of scary to see people you haven't seen in so long, know what I mean?

I've never been to Texas, but I'm sure your fajitas are better than anything I've ever had here in the Boston area. I used to have to cook the when I worked at Crapplebee's, and my, did they ever suck! Not because I am a bad cook, but because I had to cook them the way they told me to (that's the Crapplebee's way...drummed into my head during training!)
But there IS a decent Mexican place up here. It is called the Border Cafe, and Mike and I go there a lot. Best fajitas around, plus it is dirt cheap.
Enjoy your night out! :-)

Christmas Recap
Since we were out all Christmas day, I thought I'd give a little recap of how the day went in case you were interested.
We woke up about 9:30 or so and were at my parents' house by 10:30 bearing gifts and ready for breakfast. My mom had a lovely spread of bacon, eggs, toast, sausage, ham, biscuits and gravy, waffles, and croissants all ready for me, Steven, my brother, his girlfriend, and my dad to dive into. After eating and talking for a while, we exchanged gifts. We all went in together and got my parents a TiVo, which my dad now loves. (I'm telling you, if you don't have one, you should. TiVo is the best invention ever.) My parents gave us cash and lottery tickets (we won a grand $5.00 on the tickets) and Russell gave me the second season of The Sopranos on DVD. Jo, his girlfriend, gave me a small box of chocolates and a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble, so looks like I'll be heading over to BN.com to spend a little money.
Around 2:00, after a final lesson with the TiVo remote, we headed home to pick up the presents for Steven's family and then we were off to his family's house.
Christmas is also Steven's dad's birthday, so I got his dad a bottle of scotch for Christmas and I gave both him and Steven's mom a gift certificate to Texas Land & Cattle for their Christmas gift. They gave me money (the best gift ever, just about) and his mom gave me a pair of earrings that she got at the Greek Festival. Steven bought his youngest brother Johnny a few DVDs. One of them was Minority Report, so we ended up watching it with both his brothers. I thought it was a great film and really enjoyed both the direction and the plot. By the time the movie was over, it was after 11:00, so we headed home.
We pretty much hit the sack right away, but Steven did a little browsing in Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book first, so I'm hoping he'll want to give the Cuisinart ICE-20 1-1/2-Quart Automatic Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt & Sorbet Maker that I got him a whirl pretty soon.
It's all ready 1:00 in the morning and I still have to clean up since I have several high school friends coming over tomorrow night for drinks here and then dinner at Lupe Tortilla. I haven't seen them in a long time, so tomorrow should be wonderful. Good night, everyone!

Pin-Up Goodness
Courtesy of that damned tart, I know have a skin filled to the brim with pin-up goodness. It's a bit saucy, just like me, and deserves a look. Check the new skin out and let Sheila know how fabulous she is for making it for me. Sheila also has lots of other fun, saucy graphics for blogs at Tart Graphics, so go take a look at what kind of mischeif she can make.

Pasta, Anyone?
The first product in my Amazon.com Gold Box Offers today was a Villaware Imperia Pasta Machine. Steven and I have watched a lot of Iron Chef together and he's always impressed when the chefs make their own pasta, so as soon as I saw this, I called him up at his poker game and asked him how interested he might be in making his own. When he found out that it was super cheap thanks to The Gold Box, he said it would make a great gift so I bought it for him and Jemima J: A Novel About Ugly Ducklings and Swans for me (hey, I to get free shipping I had to make another purchase. It was completely self-less!). Cool little gadget, huh?

Merry Christmas!
It's now officially Christmas and about time for me to go join Steven and hit the sack. He really liked all his books and the gift certificate and I am totally jonesing for peanut butter ice cream after flipping through all the recipes. Doesn't that sound yummy?
Unsurprisingly, Steven's lasagna was to die for (he is such an excellent cook) and we have so much left, we'll probably end up taking some to both sets of parents tomorrow. He got me this really pretty watch that's all silver and blue (he so knows what I like). Watches are almost a tradition for me on Christmas since he gave me one only a few weeks after we started dating that I just loved.
Anyway, it's almost three in the morning, presents are wrapped and lined up, ready to go with us tomorrow. I doubt I'll be on much, so this week's Reasons For Love and "It's a Group Thing" will either get pushed to tomorrow or not done at all. We see how it goes. I've also got some lovely pin-up goodness courtesy of that tart that should be showing up soon, so keep an eye out.
I hope everyone enjoys their holiday and gets all of their heart's desire! Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve at The Neurotic Fishbowl
It's been a pretty quite Christmas Eve here at The Neurotic Fishbowl. Steven decided he was going to try out Emeril Lagasse's Lasagna Bolognese recipe, so he went to the newly built Super Wal-Mart and got all the ingredients. I've been sitting here smelling it cook for the last couple of hours and it's like torture! Will it ever be done? It smells so good!
We're probably going to exchange the rest of our presents in a little while. I let him open his Cuisinart ICE-20 1-1/2-Quart Automatic Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt & Sorbet Maker early since he was going to be grocery shopping and could pick up the ingredients. He ended up not being able to find any vanilla beans, so I guess we get to wait on ice cream until later.
He was a good boy this year and got some pretty nice Christmas booty (I just like using that word). He's got a gift certificate to Texas Land & Cattle that I bought him from Bella as a thank you for putting up with her when she peed all over the house for so long. He's also got some cookbooks from me - The Naked Chef Takes Off by Jamie Oliver, Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book, The Ultimate Ice Cream Book: Over 500 Ice Creams, Sorbets, Granitas, Drinks, and More. Plus he got a TiVo as a combination anniversary/Christmas gift and Cieli di Toscana by Andre Bocelli.
Currently, Steven and I are watching videos that I've downloaded (sue me) and have watched ZZ Top's "Legs," "Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen, and are about to watch some Celebrity Deathmatches. Ah, the digital age.
From me, Steven, and Bella we hope you and yours have a very merry Christmas. Happy holidays to all!

Christmas Eve in The Gold Box
Some very cool kitchen products in my Amazon.com Gold Box Offers today.
.: Fun Years Electronic Rolling Ball Tower: I don't have any kids, so I'm going to pass on this.
.: AudioSource SW Twelve 150 Watt Integrated Powered Subwoofer: nice looking speaker, but we have all of them that we need right now.
.: Le Creuset 4 1/2 Quart Soup Pot with Cover, Flame: I checked with Steven and he doesn't need one of these right now. It was really pretty, though.
.: Metrokane Houdini Corkscrew, Blue: we don't drink wine, so this isn't really useful for us. It did see cool, though.
.: KitchenAid KSM110PS Custom 300-Watt 4-1/2-Quart Stand Mixer, Metallic Chrome: this looked bad ass and Steven said it was a great deal, but we just don't have space in the kitchen for any more appliances (damn small condo). Maybe when we get a house.
.: WMF Profi Plus Stainless Steel Can Opener: nice can opener, but we already have one like this.
.: Krups 867-42 Il Caffe Bistro 10-Cup Coffee/4-Cup Espresso Maker: if you like coffee, this looks like the mac daddy of coffee makers.
.: Microsoft MSDN Universal Subscription 7.0: no need for this. Pass.
.: Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculator: I have an older model of this calculator and love it. I bought it in high school when I was taking pre-calc and it was a lifesaver. Hell of a nice calculator.
.: Microsoft Office XP Standard for Students and Teachers: not needed. Pass.

This-or-That Tuesday
Time for Christine's This-or-That Tuesday:
- Opening presents...rip 'em open with all abandon, or carefully open, preserving the pretty paper for recycling?
I usually carefully open them, but I don't recycle the paper. I will keep some of it, though, if it's pretty enough - especially the bows!
- Do you and yours take turns, opening one gift at a time, or does everyone just rip into everything at the same time?
When I lived with my parents it was everyone opened one gift apiece. Steven and I usually do the same.
- If you get something you don't like...do you try to return it, or keep it so as not to hurt the giver's feelings?
Depends. If it's something that someone doesn't know I've returned, I'll return it. If it's something that they might notice, I'll probably keep it.
- Do you spend the holiday at home (yours or someone else's), or do you go out and eat, see the newest movie, whatever?
We tend to spend it at home, though occasionally we'll go see a movie.
- What do you do with Christmas cards after the holiday is over? Save them, or toss them?
I tend to save them.
- Cook Christmas dinner, or does someone else do that?
Someone else. If I was responsible for cooking, everyone would get pop-tarts and cereal!
- It's Christmas Eve, and you have run out of wrapping paper. Do you go out and buy more, or wrap the rest of the gifts in the Sunday comics?
I actually don't wrap my own gifts (I suck at it), but I would probably go buy more paper if we ran out.
- On Christmas morning...up at the crack of dawn, eagerly anticipating the loot...or would you rather sleep in?
Sleep in. I haven't woken up early for Christmas on my own since I was very little.
- Do you want a white or a green Chrismas?
I've never even seen snow and it just sounds too cold and miserable, so I want a green one!
- Going to church on Christmas...yes or no?
No.

I don't know how many of my readers actually play EverQuest, but if you do, Magelo has come out with a new program that allows you to synch your character with their server. Wow. I can't believe it's already 10:00. I've spent most of the day playing pool, getting my points from places like Milesource, finally downloading the 350 e-mails I've had sitting in my account (I answer them through my webmail all week and get behind on clearing them out), and doing surveys for various companies.
