Unhappiness
I am unhappy in so many areas in my life right now. I hope that everyone's right and it's just because it's been a really shitty February, but things have got to start getting better soon. I can't take this much longer.

I know so many people who've just gone through so much shit this month. :( On the bright side, February is OVER after today, so maybe March will get us all over the hump.
I'll send some good vibes over your way, just in case. ;)

Wow...a lot of people have had a horrible month (mine wasn't terrific, either). Let's all hope that March is the complete opposite of February.
Posted by Alison at February 28, 2003 07:28 PM
Oh dear... I hate to hear friends having unhappy spells -- I'll sure be sending happy thoughts your way for March!! :) {{{Kymberlie}}}

kymberlie, just blame it on february. I really hope that whatever is bothering you and making you troubled, passes quickly for you.

I think I am one of 10 people in the world that actually had a good February. I'm thinking of you, and feel free to call me any time you want to talk! :) Plus I need to see you next week and give you money for DVDs!

Kymberlie---I hear ya! The best part of February was my daughters birthday. On the work front, it has been awful!
I hope your March is great!!!

What are your plans from this March?
And I agree, one more day of this F. month, I would have gone crazy.

Operation TROOPtrax
Michelle has come up with a great idea: Operation TROOPtrax.
The idea is to collect money and send CDs, comic books, and magazines to the men and women serving overseas. It's a great idea and one that I think our military would really appreciate.
Even if you don't support the war, you should support the troops, so go give a few dollars.

Survivor Losers
I'm watching tonight's TiVo and I must say these men are completely pathetic. They're in the middle of the Amazon, trying to win a game, and all they can talk about are how hot the chicks are. Have these guys ever gotten laid? Jeez. Grow up!

Better Day
Today was a better day than I thought it would be. We launched one site without any major hitches, launched a bunch of functionality for another site, and the site we launched yesterday required a lot of changes (mostly text and some stuff that was questionable as to scope) that we've almost completed and should have done tomorrow.
I've been feeling very bleak about where we are project-wise, but with these launches and the new intern (who's working for free! Poor lad!), I think we may be better off than I thought. Of course, every time I think that it tends to be wrong, but I'll be optimistic and say it's true this time.
At least it's almost Friday. This week has seemed endless and I swear this morning I thought it was Tuesday. *shudder* That would have been really bad.
If I could get rid of this headache that I've had all day, things would definitely be better. Go away, headache! Shoo!

Reasons For Love #20
Every Wednesday those who are involved in a relationship with somebody share a few (simple but significant) reasons for their love. Please keep in mind that this does not have to be a romantic relationship. It can be about a parent, a sibling, a friend, a co-worker, your kid, your dog, whatever.

I love Erika because...
- She's addicted to blogs just like me
- She has the most delicious design skills and I am always in awe of her and wish I could design as well
- I love reading her blog and a bad day at work can always be made better by a post from her
- She's an amazing woman who does such wonderful, import work with kids, something that leaves me in awe of her
- She's just so snazzy!

What a Day
As you may or may not know, I work at a web development company as a project manager. I've got three sites that are supposed to launch tomorrow. Oy.
I'm also exhausted due to a large thunderstorm we had last night. Around 4:30 there was thunder and lightning the likes of which I've rarely seen. I was reminded of Poltergeist when the little boy was counting how far the storm was before he got attacked by the tree.
I'm still at work, but ready to go home and relax, maybe take a hot bath. Aunt Flo's getting ready to visit, so needless to say, I'm feeling kind of crappy. Calgon, take me away!

Participation Positives
It's Monday, so time to start the week out right with Jess's Participation Positives!
- Bella came and got in the chair with me for a hug (she puts her paws around your neck and kneads. It's so cute!)
- I've been StairMastering like crazy at very high levels and I'm proud of myself
- I finally got smilies in my comments and it was super easy to do
- My wireless mouse and keyboard that I won was finally delivered last week
- My mom's going to record Ringu and Battle Royale to DVD for me so I can finally watch them
- I can't wait to participate and get my CDs in Alison’s First Ever Supa-Cool Fitness/Diet Blogger Workout CD Swap
- I cleared almost everything off of the TiVo (a silly thing for a positive, but we had like 80 hours of stuff on there)
- I dinged another level in EverQuest
- I love and am loved

Smilies - The Easy Way
Thanks to the easiest script ever, I installed smilies in my comments in under five minutes. No writing long code to get the images to come up. No long line of messy images all across the bottom - they come up in a neat little palette!
I've got a few tweaks I want to make and some other smilies to add, but if you want to put smilies on your own blog, go learn how here.
Update: I've now added Bran's extra special, super cool smilies.

Frailty
As some of you may have noticed, I have a DVD collection of well over a hundred movies. What you probably don't know is that after I buy most of them, I don't even watch them. Strange, huh?
Anyway, Steven fell asleep on the couch last night so I popped in one of the movies that I have really wanted to watch - Frailty, a movie about a father who sees demons and teaches his kids how to destroy them. One of the kids sees his dad commiting murder and one sees him dispatching demons which leads to a struggle of what is truly reality.
All in all, I quite liked it. The ending was not impossible to guess, but I thought it was done very well and I really liked the idea behind it. The two kids who played Fenton and Adam were great. Rarely does a movie like this get kids this good. Bill Paxton directed it (it was shot in just 37 days) and I thought he did a good job since he has directed a film in almost twenty years. I would have liked it a little more suspenseful, but I still recommend it.
Anyone else seen it? What did you think?

Blogging For a Cure
Several years ago I found a site called United Devices. They ask you to volunteer your PC to help process molecular research being conducted by the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford in England and the National Foundation for Cancer Research. To participate, you simply download a very small, no cost, non-invasive software program that works like a screensaver: it runs when your computer isn't being used, and processes research until you need your machine. Your computer never leaves your desk, and the project never interrupts your usual PC use.
There is no cost to participate and no impact on your computer use. The project software cannot detect or transfer anything on your machine but project-specific information. It just allows your computer to screen molecules that may be developed into drugs to fight cancer. Each individual computer analyzes a few molecules and then sends the results back over the Internet for further research. This project is anticipated to be the largest computational chemistry project ever undertaken and represents a genuine hope to find a better way to fight cancer.
You can download the agent here and read the FAQ here.
If you do decide to join, I have created a team called Blogging For a Cure. Please sign up for the team after you join. If you dedcide to become a team member e-mail me your username at UD (so I can tell who you are) and site info and I'll add you to the blogroll.
This is an easy, free way to help fight cancer, so please add your computer's resources to the project.

I love Steven because...
- I had so much fun watching the World Series of Poker and talking card strategy with him
- We just had a forty-five minute phone conversation (a rarity) and I enjoyed every minute of it, even when he was putting his foot in his mouth
- He's been very helpful and encouraging of my weight loss efforts
- He's always honest with me
- He loves me no matter what

MT Upgrade Almost Flawless
Well, I upgraded Movable Type 2.62 and the upgrade was near flawless. I say near flawless because I gave my sidebar and my sidebar info files the same template name over at BiblioBlog, thus overwriting all of the sidebar information I had so carefully crafted.
If by any chance you go over there and see all the correct info (currently you'll see multiple calendars. Obviously not the right info), do me a favor and send the html pretty please. :-)
Otherwise, painless upgrade and all should be functioning properly. Please send me an e-mail if you notice anything wonky.
Update: It seems to be taking a long time processing comments. Anyone else have the Scripty Goddess Subscribe to Comments on their site having the same issue?

I upgraded today. I also had to re-install all of my smilie hacks, so I tested them out, in both my comments and posts.
I'm not using that *subscribe to comments* script or anything, but I still noticed that it took longer than usual to submit a comment.
Anyway, the upgrade was almost painless!

TiVo Problems
In September I upgraded my TiVo and have had absolutely no problems with it until this past week. Lately there is a problem with the saved shows having "skipping" in the sound.
The biggest problem, however, has been that the TiVo freezes up and I have to restart it by unplugging the power cord. It's missed several shows and when I checked the Recording History notes it says it was because the TiVo was either unplugged or the power was off. Btw, when restarting, it does the same skipping (think jerky play) during the TiVo intro.
The hard drive is probably pretty full, so I was wondering if maybe it's a bad hard drive issue. Has anyone else encountered this? It's a huge issue, so any help at all would be appreciated. I know several people who drop by here have units too.
FYI, the unit is about two years old.

We don't have any problems with ours, but I'm sure it's a matter of time. I think if you google around, you might be able to find out how to defrag the hard drive or something along those lines.

do you have the series 2?? I still have the old model and occasionally I do have to unplug and restart everything but usually when my cable turns off all together. It doesn't happen very often though so I never looked for a fix for it. It's one of the reasons I'll probably take them up on their upgrade offer.

I also have a TiVo setup that locks up at 28% during the setup. Anyone have any ideas? It does not seem to be the access card, since it does it without. I have a Huges that works fine without problems.

I am a newbie. I recorded several shows and some of them I was able to watch and others, screen goes blank and black. It shows in the history as being recorded successfully! I tried restarting it a few times and it did not work. Any ideas?

Tivo hanging has been happening to me for the past 3 months getting more and more regular until recently when I've had to "hard re-boot" (power cycle) the box to get it working. It is now at the point where it hangs on the "powering up... please wait" screen every time so I cannot use the box at all. I have tried a complete rebuild of the system on several occasions which theoretically (according to Tivo support) initialises the disk drive. This would rule out disk fragmentation as the underlying fault. I am told the startup routine is run from ROM and not the hard drive, so this may rule out the disk altogether and point more towards an internal memory error. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know... I'm going to open mine up and check all the connections and seatings of hard drive and memory as they may have worked them selves loose. I'll post something up if I find anything. Btw... Has anybody found out where you can get the things repaired? No one seems to want to touch them!
Posted by Clive at February 11, 2004 04:32 PM
First, the "hanging/skipping" is the first signs that you are about to have serious problems. The next symptom will be "freezing" during the reboot process. Hughes says it is caused by faulty grounding on your coaxial cable, but I'm not buying that. Here is the number for Hughes tech support. They have RMA'd mine twice already in the last year. 954 597-2062. Good luck

Tivos are well known for hard drive problems. Ask any retail dealer about their return experience and you wil hear about the hard drive failure rate.
When you call up Sony and ask them about a bad product, they will first send you and replacement product, by one day express mail, and then ask you to return the bad unit. With Panasonic/Tivo, they tell you to return the unit to Long Beach, wait several weeks, and get used to it. I paid $1800 for a Pansonic DVR-57H and this is how I am treated.!!! I returned the unit the next weekend to Harvy Electronics for a full refund.
If you are going to charge premium prices, you have to provide preium service - not trailer park-level service.

Kept getting daily call failure (failed while loading data). Used phillips 'kickstart' a few times with no luck. Reset system deleting everything, and now it freezes on 28% checking satelite (have full signal strength).
Will install new harddrive tonight and hope that fixes it.

I'm one of about 12 people who have TiVo in England. I think it's great apart from the sound quality that goes crackly for about a minute then is fine for two then crackly again. Itas consitent as it is annoying. I have spoeken to TiVo about it and they say maybe i want to return it to them in Scotland for them to check out but frankly I don't...
Any ideas anyone out there?

We are on our second Hughes Direct TV TiVo. It is now exibiting the same problems as our original TiVo. The sensor that receives the infrared remote signal grradually deteriorates over a period of about two months. The remote works fine because the TV is instantly responsive to it's signal (but we tried a few changes of new batteries just in case). Let me know if anyone else is having this problem.
Posted by Jim Kowalski at May 24, 2004 09:00 AM
My TIVO has stopped working as well - it's a 4 month old Series one. Tried the unplug and plug trick several times with no luck. Remote will turn TV on and off but that's it. Damn.
Posted by frank bernard at June 8, 2004 07:41 PM
28% is a fault in the sowtware from directv. To get past it, redo guided setup but unplug both of your sat inputs, let if fail getting a signal and select fix this problem later, then plug in your cables and you should be good to go. It sometimes will get stuck on 70%, same problem, same solution. has nothing to do with your hard drive.

Have a Series Two. 18 months after purchase. Started freezing on playback. Recycled the power and could watch live programming.
Called Customer Support. Told that exchange was needed. Since we are out of warranrty, the cost is $149 plus shipping.

I have a series 2 and i use the home link cable. All of a sudden, the TiVo stopped changing channels below channel 100. Anyone else ever seen this. TiVo support can't figure it out.

Trading Spaces
I saw my first Trading Spaces today and I quite enjoyed it. It was the episode where the kid's room was turned into an outdoor adventure complete with a rock climbing wall and tent and the other couple's bedroom was turned into a romantic meditative space with a hanging bed.
I really thought the couple was going to hate what was done to their bedroom but they did seem to like it. All that orange would probably quickly get on my nerves.
It's definitely a cool idea, but I don't know if I could get behind letting my neighbors loose in my house to redecorate a room.

In our old house, we painted the bedroom this (kind of bright) green. I liked it - although I kinda like the color green to begin with. I still wonder what the woman who bought our house thought of it. I keep thinking she must have gone in there and said "oh yeah! Re-painting THIS room!!!" LOL!

i watch out of morbid fascination, but honestly could never participate in trading spaces. i couldn't surrender control like that. anyone remember the trading blogs thing erika (snazzykat) did a few years ago? i could barely handle letting anyone redesign my site for me. imagine my house--something much more costly and permanent? no. don't think so.

Ooh, I adore that show! I definitely don't love everything they do, and sometimes it's like a train wreck- you just can't not watch. What annoys me are the people that go on who obviously have extremely rigid ideas of things they like and pitch a big fit about everything they're doing in their neighbors' house as well as their own when they see it. Who goes on a show like that then?! It's not like the Trading Spaces crew comes to your house and horsewhips you into agreeing to be on it.
Rant aside, I do get some good ideas for cheaper home craftiness sometimes.

I used to watch more often than I do now, more for lack of time than interest though. And while I'd let TS's designer Vern run amuck in my house any day, when it comes to the neighbors... I highly doubt that would ever happen!

im a fan of you show, but why do you still employ doug and hildi? their designs are unliveable.they resemble early american garage sale. do they actually have a designing degree? i think not. why not moe shows featuring frank. some one who has talent and a flare for art. truthfully i start to channel surf when i see those two hacks. im not the only one that feels this way. why not take a vote who the favorites are ?

Interesting to watch for how things are built. Would I participate? NOT in this lifetime! The idea of stapling cheap plastic flowers, glueing corregated cardboard or randomly scattered newspaper pages as wall coverings? I can't help but wonder how many of the homeowners later found that the makeovers were a liability? Sorry, painting over paneling or existing wallpaper is NOT the quality way to do things; it just makes for a quick CHEAP way to film an episode and move on to their next victims. Tactfully, most of the changes are cosmetic, and ARE reversible!

Not only do they not offer items you might actually like (which they could do, using their Recommendations feature), but they offer almost exactly the same things to everyone. The Gold Box has a lot of potential as a moneymaker, but until they offer me things I might actually want to buy, I'm not going to purchase anything!

Kitty Problem
I posted on Friday that Bella wasn't feeling well after going to the vet and getting four (it was four, not three) shots.
It's been a couple of days now and she's still pissy if anyone picks her up (she was never like this before) and while she's using her box, she's also peeing in the floor, one time right in front of Steven.
I'm planning on calling the vet tomorrow and telling them about all of this, but I thought I'd ask and see if any of my readers might now if this is normal behavior or not. I miss my sweet kitty. :-(

What kind of shots? I would think that some types of shots might have more of an effect than others.
Posted by Art at February 16, 2003 05:50 PM
My cats get three separate vaccinations: rabies, FVRCP (a combo vaccine for distemper and a few other diseases) and FeLV. It is normal for them to be a bit cranky and lethargic for about a day afterwards, but I've never had the peeing on the floor problem.
I've also never seen this go on for as long as it is with Bella. Usually my kitties are back to their normal selves by the end of the day.
It might prove to be nothing, but I would still be concerned. You are doing the right thing by calling the vet tomorrow.
I wish I could be of more help here. I hope Bella feels better soon!
Posted by Christine at February 16, 2003 06:13 PM
Aw, poor kitty. Maybe she is having some sort of reaction to the shots. I would definitely take her in asap. Hope she feels better soon.
Posted by Steph at February 16, 2003 07:52 PM
After going through something similiar with my baby Phoebe, I have to say that it sounds like a behavioural problem. You can always take her back to the vet and rule out a UTI, etc., but if that comes back clear, it's more than likely that she's upset about something. If you need more info, drop me an email. I have several link on cat behaviour.
Posted by Jenni at February 16, 2003 11:27 PM
Knowing how she was at Christine's house I'd think it's revenge of angry Bella (usually allergic reaction happen sooner, but the UTI test is definitely a good thing.)
One of the best tricks with a behavior problem cat is to try and exhaust them with whatever kind of play they like. Usually once they have a quality feather stick play session they'll forget why they were mad.
Posted by Cis at February 17, 2003 07:51 AM
I know now that one of our cats is older (almost 17) he doesnt get all his shots at one time because the normal reaction to them (sluggishness and sometime mood 'swings') tend to last longer and they are more sore after getting their shots...but I think talking to your vet is the best thing to do, at least you will know what it might be instead of trying to guess for yourself!
Good luck!

Poor Bella
My poor Belly Girl (as I like to call Isabella AKA Bella, our cat) had to go to the vet today for a check-up and she got three different shots. It's been such a great day, I just have to share some of the things that have made me happy:
- I reached UPS and they are delivering the Logitech Cordless iTouch Keyboard with Cordless Mouse I won last month to me at work on Monday (it's been stuck in transit due to some weird happenings)
- I won God Shaped Hole from Robyn's GiveAway Page
- I have beautiful red roses sitting next to my monitor
- I can't wait to go on my spa day courtesy of Steven
- I won $25 in a poker tournament tonight
- We're going to Chinese Cafe (the one on Bellaire) and watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding later tonight
- My tax return was finally accepted after making a mistake in the electronic signature the first time (Oops!) so I should get my refund soon
- And last but not least, I got tons of people wishing me happy Valentine's Day and making me a happy Fishgirl

I have the non-cordless version of that keyboard, and its way cool!! :) I had to download a newer driver from the logitech site so that it worked with winamp 3, but now that it does, I like being able to control the settings right from my keys. What a Gift!
I just got back from lunch with my wonderful boyfriend. He gave me my Valentine's Day gift and he certainly was right about me liking it! He gave me a "Get Away Day" package from Derma Technique Day Spa.
They didn't put on the gift certificate what all is included, but it's definitely got a manicure, pedicure, massage, and facial. It takes like five hours to do the whole thing, so I will take a day off from work (probably a Friday) and pamper myself silly! My birthday's in about a month, so that might be a perfect time to do that.
He did so good on this gift. I am a lucky, lucky girl. :-)

Just Stuff
My Valentine's Day started a little early with roses tonight from Steven, the sweetie. He says I'm going to love my gift, so I can't wait for tomorrow.
I watched the first episode of Survivor: Amazon tonight. I've watched a few episodes of the one that had the cute Texan guy on it, but that's about it. I must say I was really impressed with the show tonight and have set a season pass. The immunity challenge in particular had me in a state of disbelief. How do you blow a three minute lead like that (left vague on purpose so as not to spoil anything)?
Movable Type 2.6 is now out, but I think I'll wait a few days to upgrade since another release always follows right away. :-)
In other news, Kristine has moved her awesome MT Plugin Directory to new digs. It looks awesome and is bound to be as helpful as ever.
I'm glad it's almost Friday. Tomorrow night is yummy Chinese food at Chinese Cafe. I've been trying to get there for a month and other things just keep getting in the way, but tomorrow it's come hell or high water.
Happy almost Friday and Valentine's Day, everyone!

Girl's Night Out
I got a phone call today from Jeanna and the first words out of her mouth were, "I need alcohol. Let's go out tonight instead of tomorrow."
I was having what was shaping up to be a shitty day (side note: there is nothing better than having a day that looks like it's going to end in death and bloodshed actually turn out great) so I readily agreed.
We ended up just wandering around the mall for a while and then going to dinner at Red Lobster but, as always, I had the greatest time hanging out with her. We laughed, we called people jack monkeys, we sang along to old ballads, we discussed books, and just talked about whatever random thing happened across our minds.
Isn't it wonderful to have a best friend?

Reasons For Love #18
Every Wednesday those who are involved in a relationship with somebody share a few (simple but significant) reasons for their love. Please keep in mind that this does not have to be a romantic relationship. It can be about a parent, a sibling, a friend, a co-worker, your kid, your dog, whatever.
Stop in here to join the notify list, see who else has left their reasons, and to be added to the blogroll. Also, feel free to save the button below to your server and link it to http://www.neuroticfishbowl.com/reasons.html
I love Steven because...
- When I asked him what he wanted to do for Valentine's Day he said, "Whatever you want to do, honey." :-)
- He's going with me to lunch twice this week even though he's super busy
- He's been extremely sympathic about a issue that's been bugging me for the last few days
- After a particularly stressful day yesterday he rubbed my neck and shoulders
- He offered to split Bella's insurance costs with me (Yes, I'm insuring the cat. Call me crazy.)
- He takes care of me and the kitty and the fish

It's a Group Thing IL
In honor of my bestest friend in the whole world, Jeanna, today's "It's a Group Thing" term is:
A Paddling of Ducks (applied to ducks only if they're in the water)
(She knows why this is dedicated to her. Duck!)

Decision Made
We went to Cingular (my cellular provider) to see what deals they might have going on since they're in the same parking lot of the gym anyway.
They didn't have any of the cool phones that I mentioned before. They have some kind of a new network coming online this year and they should have all those types of phones later. I wasn't going to get anything, but they made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
Basically, I signed another year contract at my current plan and got a Motorola 120T (mine is a pretty silver and blue with the little Cingular guy on it, not that ugly black) for free that I can use as a trade in when the new phones come in.
It's not the phone that I want, but I can trade up for one later and not have to change my phone number. Plus, I still get a Valentine's Day gift. ;-)

Man, Amazon is charging more for that Samsung then I paid for mine, and mine is the next model higher up! I wonder what's up with that?
Great news on the new phone though! I know your old one was driving you mad when the battery would die randomly on you!

Messenger Pop-Ups
Lately I have been inundated with pop-up windows sent through the built in messenger service in Windows. I get more and more pissed every time I see one, so I did a quick Google search which returned an article that shows, in a few simple steps, how to disable them. I offer it here to help you rid the world of evil messenger pop-ups: Block Webpopup Spam Advertisements aka Messenger Spam.

I get attacked by evil pop-ups when I open a link from my sidebar. I don't know what to do about it... :-P Really annoying. I will try that URL to see if I can fix it.

Decisions, Decisions
The boyfriend just offered to buy me one of those really expensive phones (like this one for example) that I have been drooling over for a while as a Valentine's Day gift.
Now, I don't really *need* one of those phones. I could use that money to pay off some bills instead. But what fun is that? Be responsible or get a cool phone. Be responsible or get a cool phone. Decisions, decisions.
Update: okay, the link really does go to a phone now. Go see what I'm talking about.

EverQuest Problem Solved
I finally figured out what to do to enter my pre-paid game card on EverQuest.
When you get the two options for payment subscriptions, you have to pick one of those and then pick "Use game card" out of the checkboxes. I thought game card was its own category. Doh! At least the problem is solved.

EverQuest Help
Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that this weekend I attempted to play EverQuest for the first time since approximately Christmas.
Not surprisingly, my account (paid via three month game card) has expired. When I went to enter in the game card number, I couldn't find the option to pay via card. The only things I could find were to pay by the monthly service.
Anyone know how to enter a pre-paid card? I'm stumped.

I got everquest platinum, the collection of eight, but it wont play.
It goes through the check updates process, but then when I press 'play' an error message pops up saying that it could not find the "d3d9.dll" file.
I've reinstalled and repair-installed but still the error.
What happened, is there an online correction or am I just screwed?

Blog Free Weekend
For whatever reason, I just didn't feel much like blogging this weekend.
Friday night was a night of drunken revelry with my sweetiepie followed up with lots of TiVo watching. Nothing too exciting, but I was a happy chica and that's what really counts.
Saturday was spent mostly playing Zeus, Master of Olympus and a few poker tournaments (I placed in all of them, I believe). We had some friends come over so there was more drinking, dinner at a Mexican restaurant, homemade "Serious" Vanilla Ice Cream, Panic Room on DVD, more TiVo watching, and more Zeus playing.
Big surprise, but today was pretty much the same thing over again. Sometimes it's just good to not worry about anything and just play video games. Know what I mean?

Bikini Karate Babes!
Some days, I really love my co-workers. It was kind of a slow Friday afternoon, so when everyone started clustering around one of the guy's desk, I went over to take a look (keep in mind we work in an open environment. Ten people, no cubes, no walls).
It was then that we were introduced to the most glorious fighting game ever - Bikini Karate Babes! Think Mortal Kombat except with chicks with giant boobs in bikinis. It's great!
When Aphrodite (or was it Venus?) shot flames out of her boobs, we were impressed. We laughed hysterically when Venus took her top off and used it to pop TeinWen. You must try it yourself.
Fighting games and boobs. What more could you want?

Oh, Mickey Usted es Tan Fino!
When I ripped my Chicago soundtrack this week, it marked the first time I've used my CD drive to rip a CD on this computer.
I was amazed at how fast it ripped, so I decided to do something I've always wanted to do - rip all my CDs into mp3 files. While doing, this I've come across tons of CDs that I'd completely forgotten about and in many cases, never even opened.
One of those was Living In Oblivion : The 80's Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 which contains "Mickey" by Toni Basil in Spanish! I had to share it with you, so right click and save here to hear it.
(Btw, if the Spanish in the title sucks, blame Babel Fish. I haven't been in a Spanish class for ten years.)

I actually use Ogg Vorbis instead of MP3 for all of my music - it sounds better (despite having roughly similar file sizes) and doesn't have the patent issues that MP3 has.
It's supported by Winamp 2.8+ and most of media players, and you can use MediaXW to add support for Windows Media Player.
Posted by Neil T. at February 6, 2003 03:40 AM
The title is fine to me, but hey what do I now I am just a girl who's Spanish was her first language. LOL

Ubercool Lunchboxes
If you read my post today at Changes - Turning a New Leaf about buying a new lunchbox, you already know that I am the proud new owner of an Army of Darkness lunchbox that came with a set of Evil Dead shotglasses.
While looking for that little gem, I found the coolest lunch box ever, which I too now own. It's a Mexican Day of the Dead metal lunchbox. It's got capering skeletons and demons along the sides. What else could you possibly want out of a lunchbox?
I never got the lunchbox collection thing before, but these were far too cool to pass up. My snacks will be traveling in style!

Reasons For Love #17
Every Wednesday those who are involved in a relationship with somebody share a few (simple but significant) reasons for their love. Please keep in mind that this does not have to be a romantic relationship. It can be about a parent, a sibling, a friend, a co-worker, your kid, your dog, whatever.
Stop in here to join the notify list, see who else has left their reasons, and to be added to the blogroll. Also, feel free to save the button below to your server and link it to http://www.neuroticfishbowl.com/reasons.html
I love Steven because...
- I've started eating five small meals a day and he prepares my two mini meals for me. One was an orange, and when I went to get it, I noticed he had even peeled it for me.
- When we were at CostCo yesterday, he bought me two dozen of the most beautiful yellow roses.
- This morning when I was leaving for work, he picked Bella up and was holding her so I got to kiss both my babies bye together, making me feel so happy.
- He thinks going to Austin SXSW weekend sounds like fun and wants to go with me
- He's being really encouraging about some stuff
- When I'm weird and goofy he thinks it's cute

It's a Group Thing XLVIII
I really love some of the bird terms that can be found in An Exaltation of Larks: The Ultimate Edition by James Lipton. With that in mind, today's "It's a Group Thing" term is:
A Murmuration of Starlings
For those of you who missed what this is all about, each week I will feature a term for groups of things from An Exaltation of Larks: The Ultimate Edition by James Lipton. I found the book really interesting and wanted to share it with everyone.

Through most of it, I've been okay-ish, but these really touched me. I definitely got choked up. The two that got me up were the first one with Uncle Sam crying and the one with the Leonardo DaVinci poem...

Good Luck, Mom!
I almost forgot, but my mom has a job interview in eight hours. Good luck, Mom! I know you'll knock 'em dead! I love you!

Valentine's Skin
Kristine was talking about her new gorgeous Valentine's Day skin which reminded me to tell everyone that there is a Valentine's Day skin here too. It was the first skin I made right after I started blogging.
I would love to do a light, pink girly skin, but I don't know if I'll have time before V-Day, especially since I'm currently working on another one. :-)

Argh. I still haven't figured out how to install skins myself as yet. Look forward to seeing your latest!

Today
Today was one of those days. You know those days where everything is screwed up?
It started out with me oversleeping then getting to work only to find out that I have a client meeting in a few hours (surprise!) for a new client, so that's like skipping ten steps in how we're supposed to do things. It progressed to weird client expectations (lady, that is so not in your scope) and projects that are doomed. We're supposed to have dance class tonight, but I don't feel like going. I'd rather sit here and do nothing.
At least the day is over. Kind of making it hard to come up with my Participation Positives!

Lovely Sunday
I've been sitting around not doing anything today except playing Zeus: Master of Olympus and its expansion pack, Poseidon. I can't remember why I stopped playing these games. They are so fun.
Steven and I had dinner last night with my brother, his girlfriend, her sister, and two of their friends. Fun time, but I had way too much to drink. At least I didn't get sick. :-)
I guess it's just about time to go back to work. Pity.

My Heart Goes Out
My heart goes out to all involved with the Columbia tragedy. How sad and terrible. My thoughts are with you all.
