E-Mail Snafu
There was a snafu with my webmail today (if you're using Horde, I don't suggest trying to start a blacklist or filter; it totally fucked up my mail), so I lost all mail that I got today.
If you signed up for Burn It either yesterday or today (just to be on the safe side), please resend me your information. I'd hate to leave anyone out who had signed up. (Same goes for any personal mail that you might have sent me. Please resend.)

As Scary As The Shining's Topiary
I was thumbing through the mail this afternoon, innocently enough, only to be frightened by this evil, leering tree that popped out at me.
The ad said that the Tree Face "livens up your yard," but if the trees in my yard ever came to life looking like that, I would move quickly before they could steal my soul.
Why would you put something like that in your yard? So very, very creepy.

All I can think of to say to a face like that is Yipes! I'm sure that thing would scare my pet rocks.

Can you imagine stumbling home intoxicated and walking smack dab into a tree that looked like that? Oh man would there be some screaming!
Posted by Shannon at April 7, 2005 05:21 AM
don't hate me, but i actually think it's kind of cute, in a teddy bear picnic sort of way. no way on heaven or earth i'd have it in MY yard, but still.....
Posted by suzie at April 8, 2005 09:50 AM
Not so much creepy as dorky. Yeah, no wayh in hell I'd have it in my yard, any more than I'd ahve a gnome or other signs of Uberdorkdom. Ents are creepier, and the topiary from the BOOK The Shining are actually soul rippin' scary. This is the sort of thing that would make you want to join the dog in territory marking...

Happy Birthday, Mike!
Today just happens to be Mike's birthday, who is truly one of the most wonderful people that I know. He's so sweet, he'd even spend his last night as a bachelor with you in the ER.
Happy birthday, Mike! You are smart, sweet, interesting, and I am so glad that you are in my life!

Winamp M4P Input Plugin
Since iTunes started offering free songs every Tuesday, I've amassed quite a few tunes in my Purchased Music folder.
However, I really dislike using iTunes as my audio player and use Winamp instead. It's always bothered me, though, that I couldn't play my iTunes songs (saved as m4p files) on Winamp.
Inspiration struck yesterday and a quick search on the Winamp site turned up the M4P Input plugin. It takes only a few seconds to install and you can play all of your iTunes songs through Winamp.
I thought I'd share for anyone else who wants to get around listening to their iTunes songs in iTunes only.

I am tired of reading about iPods on here. I want one .

Do you know if there is an RSS feed or some site that keeps track of all the free music tuesday songs?
Posted by Eliot at April 6, 2005 09:35 AM
I found it! iMix of all iTunes FREE Songs Up To Date. Most of them aren't free now, but it's nice to have the list.

Don't I Know You?
Last February I went out with this guy a couple of times. We had instant chemistry, I felt very comfortable with him right away, and we had tons in common.
We had a few really great dates, he called me the day after the last one, and we set a time later in the week to go out again. Unfortunately, he'd been feeling sick (and I think he really was;his coughs sounded both liquidy and like his lung was about to explode from his chest), so the last date never happened.
I called him a few times that next week, but he never called me back. I was hurt and puzzled over the whole thing, but that's life in the dating world, right?
Yesterday I was talking to my mom about dating (I don't even remember how it came up) and I mentioned that the only one that I really regret things not working out with was with that guy (we'll call him Mr. X). In all honesty, I liked him and was attracted to him more than any guy that I've seen in longer than I can remember.
Today I was reading my mail and got an e-mail from Match.com (yes, I'm a member) saying I had two winks. The first one was from Mr. X.
WTF? While we met on a different dating site, my profiles are exactly the same and use the same pictures. He never had my e-mail, he doesn't appear to be a member of the site we met on anymore, and I've changed my phone number since we met.
Is this some weird way of seeing if I'll contact him back? Could he have totally forgotten that we've got out a few times and just thought my profile was cute and winked?
If you were me, what would you do? I did really like him.

lessee... you asked for a 24/7 post office - you got a Wal-Mart shoppette
You wanted the lottery - you got $100
You asked for a 'wonderful, handsome boy'...
I'm thinking this guy might be decently looking... but have a hump, lazy eye, or other some such...

dangit! forgot the requisite smilie...
;-)

This is obviously a case of a dumb guy. But, if you're anything like me, you won't let that stop you from responding. You could start with, "I'm glad you got over your cough. At least, I hope you did..."

I know. My user name... a bit strange. Kitsune means fox in japanese just incase you didn't know. Well about that guy, I think you should just trust your own judgment. If you really like him, GO FOR IT!! But be sure to be careful. Cautious. And keep you mind clear. And mothers' are a great source of advice.

I'd contact him back - you never know....
Posted by Daphne at April 5, 2005 01:54 AM
I would write something like, "Long time, no speak!" and see what he says...
Posted by Dell at April 5, 2005 01:22 PM
I would contact him - maybe he was happy to find you over at Match and wants another shot. He had no other way to contact you, so ... who knows? Give him a break. :) (And give us an update!)
Posted by Christine at April 6, 2005 12:33 AM
heya, i recon he likes u and there was a genuine reason why he didnt call back. but i think you should maybe ring him a little less?!
x

might as well email him. be up front though that you've gone on dates before. since he never had your email and your # changed, he might have tried to contact you. and maybe he was THRILLED to see you on that dating site.
Posted by sarah at April 8, 2005 02:09 PM
I second Christine's comments. At the very least you may find out why he never returned your calls. Maybe there is a good reason.
