Tiara Countdown
It's now a mere four hours and twenty minutes until Tiara Happy Hour. I love THH and with this one being a special bachelorette pary edition for Christine, I have a feeling it's going to be even more fun. Christine and I are going to go down a little early and meet Pat for a bite to eat before hand. I'm almost giddy with excitement, I tell you! It's almost Tiara time!

Balancing Act
Want to see something funny? Then go watch someone that Robin knows ride a unicycle. Quite amusing.

HA! I thought he was going to go to far! But the sound effect at the end is hilarious. Looks like something I'd do to a friend and then play at his birthday party or something :)

Let's Make Contact
My new least favorite types of people are the ones that see by my Yahoo! personal ad that I'm online and just randomly message me to start up a conversation. Nine times out of ten it's people I'm not interested and, to be honest, I'm not looking for new chat friends so I find it annoying to get an IM out of no where. Damn Yahoo! for showing our online status on our ad and not having an option to turn it off.
Oh, and people who don't put pictures up with their ads. What's up with that?

"Damn Yahoo! for showing our online status on our ad and not having an option to turn it off."
Actually, you can turn it off but you have to do it through your Yahoo IM client, not through the Yahoo Personals website.
To turn it off, open Yahoo IM and go to Login -> Preferences. On the left, Select the "privacy" category.
Look for the section that says "When people see my ID on Yahoo Web Sites" and make sure that you have "Do not allow users to see me an contact me" selected.
Click OK, then restart (not just logout and back in) the Yahoo IM client. Your profile shouldn't have that "Contact Me" listed while you're signed into the service.
Hope that helps. ;)

I hope you don't ignore me if I try to chat with you :)
(yahoo name is Magellangirl)

I used to have my profile name with them, and a separate chat name (well, several and I used Trillian). That way I could exchange e-mails with them, and then say "I use this name for IM" so that they could find me there.
Cut back on the freaks IM'ing me.

Are looks really that important to you? That is what's wrong with America today, that and damn Britney Spears. ;-)

Burn It - The Spring 2004 Edition Extention
I've had several people ask to join Burn It - The Spring 2004 Edition even though the sign-ups have ended. I've decided to go ahead and extend them through Monday, May 10th, so if you wanted to join, now's the time to do it. FYI - the date to mail the CDs out (Monday, May 31st) is the same.

Text Ads For Dollars
It's been a while since I mentioned this, but I thought I'd go ahead and see if there's any new interested parties.
If you look down near the credits that are on every skin, you'll notice text links (only two of them are for this) under the heading "Sponsored Ads." A little birdie had told me about this program, so I took a shot and signed up. Let me tell you, selling out was well worth it. I put those links on my pages and I've already been sent money via PayPal - an extremely fair amount in my opinion. You don't even have to have a certain number of clicks - just list the links.
Interested? Want to be a sell out too? Either send me an e-mail (change the AT to @) or leave a comment here and I'll pass your name on to the appropriate party.

Tivo Modem Problems
We had a really big storm here in Houston Sunday morning and it appears that the modem in my TiVo has been blown yet again (this happened about two and a half years ago and when I left Steven's house, I forgot to get my surge protector. Oops!).
Does anyone know if it's easy to replace the modem if you're tech-savvy? My brother's roommate is pretty good at stuff like that, but since the modem's on the motherboard (at least I believe it is), I don't want to have him mucking about in there if it's something that's pretty difficult to do.

Kymberlie, Before I sent my Tivo back I opened up the case and if my memory serves me correctly, the modem is on the motherboard. If you don't want to go through the pain of sending it back, you might want to go this route:

For the cost of fixing the modem, I would consider a refurb Tivo Series 2. Although you have the lifetime subscription, so that might make it worthwhile to get it fixed.
Have you tried "rebooting" the Tivo? I left mine off for about 8 hours, and that fixed a problem I was having years ago.
Posted by Christine at May 3, 2004 11:04 AM
Holy smokes. I didn't even think about the Tivo blowing out. I shoulda been worried all weekend. Note to self: make sure it's in a surge protector.
Posted by Jenn at May 3, 2004 01:36 PM
I would strongly oppose buying a refurbished Tivo. Although it's a great deal, it's really Russian Roulette. I didn't even have the refurbished Tivo a month before it totally went apeshit on me.
Posted by nastybastard at May 3, 2004 03:13 PM
I love my refurbed tivo. no problems with it.
Posted by emily at May 3, 2004 04:41 PM
go with the refurb - or get the PCI card so you can get all your programming over the Internet. (I've got a wireless card in mine - bye bye modem!)
Posted by don at May 3, 2004 05:47 PM
I got a really cheap external modem and hooked it up. It works like a champ!
