Toy Box Saturday
Half of the items in my Amazon.com Gold Box Offers for today were toys, because I so really need those.
.: Tom & Jerry: Mouse Attacks: I don't have a GameBoy Color, but maybe they'll start offering me games I like soon.

Free Steaks
Steven and I went to the Texas Land & Cattle Steakhouse last night for dinner. While the food was great (excellent baked potato; yummy!), what was even better was the customer service.
When the waiter brought my salad I, of course, reached over for my silverware and unwrapped it which is when a big piece of fat fell out onto the table. Steven undid his and there was a big lump of gravy or cheese in it. Very disgusting. We flagged the waiter down, he apologized profusely, and brought us new napkins.
A little while later the manager came over and said he was very sorry that that had happened to us and he had taken care of the whole meal. That is far more than I would have ever expected, especially since we didn't talk to him at all - the waiter must have told him. We tipped the waiter $10 and left happy, vowing to remember to come have dinner there more often.
What a smart manager. He turned a possible issue (though, honestly, it didn't bug us that much) into a very positive situation for his restaurant. Kudos to him!

Damn Monitor
I am so pissed at my damn monitor. Several months ago it was acting up so I took it to Best Buy and they repaired it (I bought that extended warranty thing, so it was covered for repairs). Today I sit down in front of the computer, turn it on, it starts, suddenly turns into a solid bar of color, and dies. I am currently on the oldest, darkest monitor in the world that is all of fifteen inches. I had planned to play EverQuest for several hours before we went to dinner, but the screen is so dark, I can't see where I'm going. This sucks! My manager said I could borrow one of the monitors from work, so here's to hoping I can convince Steven to go over there tonight so I can play games all weekend.

Discover Friday 110102
It's Friday, so that means time for another edition of Discovery Friday!
.: Blog Me - It was Theresa's birthday this week, but I didn't get to visit and wish her a happy birthday, so the list I can do is mention her here this week. She has a lovely blog, so be sure to go pay her a visit.
.: Go Fish - I don't know why I've never talked about Nicole before. She's smart, witty, a great blogger, and she's got fish on her site. What more could you ask for?
.: Mariwood Dot Com - I found Mariann's blog through Kristine's site and have really enjoyed my visits. Her new design is super cute too.
.: My Texas Island - I saw Cindy's site name on someone's blog and that was enough to go make me take a look at her site. She's got a lovely design and some excellent photos as well.
.: Redwaterlily's Random Bloggings - Suzanne's blog is one of such open honesty and such intense writing, that it's hard not to be really moved by her writing. Go read her for yourself.

Friday in The Gold Box
A few tempting items in my Amazon.com Gold Box Offers for today.
.: Koss DVP2161 DVD Player: I actually found this thing to be kind of strage looking. It didn't look like it was a whole DVD player to me. Odd.
.: Cuisinart ICE-20 1-1/2-Quart Automatic Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt & Sorbet Maker, White: I had this the other day and I still think it looks like such a good deal. Maybe if the offer it to me one more time, I'll fall for it. Third time's a charm, you know.
.: Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 THX Certified Speaker System (5-Piece): too funny! These are the speakers that Steven bought for me last year as a Christmas present.
.: Uniden BC245XLT Handheld Scanner: I've never understood the fascination with scanning police bands. Why do it? Whatever. Pass.
.: Riedel Vinum Extreme Chardonnay Wine Glass, Set of 4: as I've mentioned several times in the past, we don't drink wine, so I'm going to pass on these. They look nice, though.
.: Motorola Disney Princess Two-Way Radio (Pair): I should get these for me and Christine so we can be in constant contact at all times.
.: 4-piece Crib Bedding Set - Transport: I have no desire for kids at all, so pass big time on this.
.: Office Space: I was really tempted to get this, but I think I'll get some other DVDs that I want more first.
.: Baby Jockey Pink Mini Tee-ni Short Set: Small: once again, not planning on having kids, so stop offering me stuff for them.
.: American Lighting 8038T Table Lamp: for some reason, I didn't like the look of this, so I'm going to pass.

An Update in Picture Fish (Finally)
I haven't been taking photos very much since I returned back from Galveston (maybe taking 120 shots in less than two days burned me out), but I am resolving to put one picture a day into Picture Fish, like I did for so many months. There are a few new photos in there now, including my submission for this week's Theme Thursday.

Tiny Gold Box
For some reason, my Amazon.com Gold Box Offers stopped working, so today's list is a short one.
.: SONICblue Rio 600 64 MB Digital Audio Player (MP3/WMA): I've been thinking that the mp3 player I won online (the RCA RD1000 Kazoo Digital Audio Player) isn't really going to work for what I need, so I'm half toying with the idea of buying one. This one looks nice, but the reviews were mixed.
.: Le Creuset 2-5/8-Quart Soup Pot, Blue: I don't think Steven really needs a soup pot, but the color on this was really beautiful.
.: Tanita 2201 Super Ultimate Body Fat Monitor and Scale: I've been thinking, since I've wanted to be more serious about losing some weight, that I should get a scale. I've always been kind of sceptical about how accurate a body fat reading on one of these is. It also stores personal data for two users and that is a great feature.

you know, Kymberlie, ever since i started reading your site (not from the beginning), i was wondering what this category was about. i finally found the time to click on the category and scroll to the beginning and i think this is neat. like your own personal meme. i had a calendar which had a question a day and i was thinking of doing that and answering it myself, but somehow lost interest.
oh, btw - the font for this comment is black and bolded. is there anyway you can make it light blue or white? just a suggestion. :)
i still luv ya!

Kathy, I did the exact same thing like a week ago! I had no clue what these entries were about. I don't remember if I left a comment to that effect, but I applaud your frankness for doing so :). I'm a big fan of Yahoo pool, but I'll try out Pogo and see how it compares.

Book Reviews
If you've ever read to the bottom of my sidebar, you know I have a list of all the books that I've read since I started my blog along with a mini-review when you hover over the tile and the books I'm currently reading. Hovering over the title for a review is kind of a pain, so I took a few minutes and created a book reviews page where you can read them much easier. Since I've already read almost fifty books this year alone, I may start showing only the last twenty or so down in the sidebar. Either way, enjoy the reviews and pick yourself up a good book!

I liked your Book Reviews. I'm ashamed of the books on my to-do list. They are piled up against the wall. I used to read like you. Just don't know where the time has gone. I truly miss it, the book I've been reading lately has been 5months running.. (hanging head).
You make me want to have a goal in November. Finish the current book and one more. I can do this! Thanks.

The Return of The Gold Box
I haven't done one of these for a while, so I thought I'd post my Amazon.com Gold Box Offers for today.

.: Oregon Scientific RGR122 Cable Free Long Range Rain Gauge: okay, I guess this is kind of neat, but why would you need it unless you're a meterologist?
.: Henckels Pro S 9-Piece High Carbon Stainless Steel Knife Set with Block: wow. A list price of $550 for some knives. Seems excessive unless you're a cook.
.: Critter Cape-Pink Flamingo: I personally find this very creepy. Why would you wrap your baby in this?
.: Midland G-28 GMRS Radio with NiMH Batteries and Wall Charger : I just don't need one of these. Pass.
.: Lodge 12-Inch Cast Iron Skillet: $9.00 for a skillet. Sounds like a deal to me.
.: AudioSource LS100 50 Watt Indoor/Outdoor Speakers: Steven already has some kick-ass Klipsh speakers in the house and we don't have a yard, so I'm going to pass.
.: Cuisinart ICE-20 1-1/2-Quart Automatic Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt & Sorbet Maker, White: now this looks cool (pardon the pun). To make homemade ice cream, you don't even need salt or ice! It even has an opening to put toppings in. If I was in the market for one of these, I'd snap this baby up.
.: Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus Game: this looks okay, I guess, but I'm not all that interested.
.: AeroBed 04122 Pillowtop Full Size Inflatable Bed: Steven bought an air matress a few years ago when we had a house guest, so no need for this for us.

This-or-That Tuesday
Time for Christine's This-or-That Tuesday:
- Apples or pears?
Apples. I don't like pears.
- Oranges or grapefruit?
Oranges, but grapefruits are good too, especially when the fruit and juices are mixed with Grand Marnier to make a yummy soup-like concotion.
- Broccoli or cauliflower?
Blech. Neither.
- Green beans or lima beans?
Again blech on both of these.
- Winter or summer squash?
I don't like any kind of squash. Ick.
- Blueberries or strawberries?
Strawberries. The only blueberries I like are Blueberry Pop-Tarts.
- Tomatoes or potatoes?
Potatoes, especially french fried or baked.
- Peaches or plums?
Neither.
- Peas or carrots?
Carrots, but only raw.
- Asparagus or corn?
Corn, especially on the cob with butter.

- I had a wonderful lunch with my parents on Saturday
- Steven bought me a Longhorns shirt when he was at the game Saturday because he knew I wanted one

Sephora - A Religious Experience
My friend Jeanna actually did end up coming over Saturday afternoon. I had given her a gift certificate to Sephora as one of her presents, so we set out to the mall and the new store that opened there a few months ago. I'd been in once before during the week they opened, but with Jeanna and I there together, it was like a religious experience. We both bought way too much make-up, but had such a good time. To day, my purchases are in the $125 range and this is everything I've gotten:
.: Cargo eyeshadow in Nepal
.: Urban Decay eyeshadow in Lounge and Gash
.: Urban Decay nail polish in Big Bang, Cult, and Strip
.: Urban Decay Duo Color Lipstick in Manic/Depressive
.: Sephora Collection Glitter All Over Color in Violet
.: Sephora Collection eyeshadow in two shades of blue (can't remember which ones, but they are so pretty)
I have also fallen in love with Stila's Creme Bouquet Eau de Parfum Spray. It is the most heavenly scent every created! It smells like cookies. Yummy! I have a friend who had perfume created especially for her by a perfume maker in New Orleans and it smells almost exactly like this. I am so going to have to get some.
While I am having so much fun shopping in such a girly store (I hardly ever by clothes or make-up; I'm not a girly girl usually), I am going to have to be very careful or I am going to spend all my money there. I just love all the pretty colors!

And So the Addiction Begins...
As Matt pointed out, yesterday was probably the longest time I've gone in between posts and it was all the fault of EverQuest. I played for about ten hours yesterday, but the sad thing is that for about four of those hours I had grouped with people that were significantly higher in levels than me so I received no experience for all of the fights I did at that time. I did, however, loot a lots of corpses and get a lot of money, plus I got more familiar with the game, so it wasn't a total waste, I guess. I am now a level nine paladin and I should be able to start casting spells.
I have often lamented over the past several years that I was no longer a gamer chick. I guess I am back to gaming with far more of my time than I should!
