Lazing About
It's been one of those days where I haven't been motivated to do anything. I played some Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom (but I'm annoyed with the campaign; each new mission is build another city. I would like to build up a city before leaving it directly) and some Civilization: Call To Power. We were thinking of going to dinner at Carrabba's tonight, but it's already so late, I'm not sure we're going to make it. At least I did twenty minutes on the StairMaster today and I did it before eating anything, so it's really like I did forty minutes. I think I might download the MTAmazon Plugin and see if it will work well for the DVD page that I want to make.
Anyway, everyone enjoy the bit of Saturday that's left!

Friday Filler
Have I ever mentioned I love Fridays? I do. Work was great because everyone was in a wonderful mood and now I'm home, buzzing on raspberry piña coladas. Steven and I are going to Chinese Cafe for dinner tonight (they have the best shrimp fried rice in the world), so I'm salivating just thinking of it.
On the workout front, I drank between six and eight glasses of water on Wednesday, Thursday, and today, went to the gym on Tuesday and Wednesday, and StairMastered for twenty minutes last night even though I was tired and hungry.
I got the most amazing manicure last night with some nail polish I had bought at Wal-Mart. It's Rimmel 60 Second Dry and the color is called Mania. It's the most amazing nail color I've ever seen. It's this green and blue irridescent mix that looks like a peacock's feather or a butterfly's wing. It looks so great with my long nails. I just love it!
Plus, I've got a new skin up, fixed some minor issues that had been bugging me all week, and now my quick search works (need to fix my advanced search this weekend).
All in all, it's a kick-ass day. I'm off for a quick shower, so everyone enjoy their Friday! ~drunken hugs and kisses all around~

ooh ooh! I'm going to have to look for that nail polish. :)
Hope you're having a great weekend! Keep guzzling that water -- speaking of which, I should too...
BTW - HI! I'm just a lurker who thought it was about time I said hello. I've been keeping up with you off and on for quite some time now. :)

A Fish Out of Water - The Skin
The Neurotic Fishbowl has a new skin courtesy of Trish. It's a blogware set that she offers up free to use as long as you link back. She was even nice enough to make a custom header for me. You can try it out here. There are a few things that look a little strange since I had pretty much had no idea what CSS was when I set my blog up. If you see anything too funky, please let me know.

Discovery Friday 101102
It's Friday, so that means time for another edition of Discovery Friday!
.: Bedside Manner - great writing and she had lots of cute kitty pictures last week. That's always a plus in a blog as far as I'm concerned. :-)
.: Elderberries - Amy left me some comments last week, so I went and visited her site and really enjoyed myself. She's smart and interesting, with a nice, clean blog.
.: Note To Self - I just recently found this delightful blog through my referrals. I love the design and enjoy the posts, so what more could you want?
.: Pixel Sphinx - is a gorgeous site with entertaining rants and posts. She was also the sweet person who blogrolled me so I could be linked 100 times.
.: Unix Gal - Lisa is such a nice person, always leaving comments around here, that I can't believe it's taken me so long to blogroll her. Go read her; she rocks.

That Was Then
There are already a few casualities of the new television season and one of them is That Was Then, which I've really been enjoying. The article said that it's going to probably move time slots, so I hope it finds its niche. I've also been mourning that no one picked Once and Again up like I was hoping would happen. Damn Nielsen familes that don't watch what I do.

Ooh! They're a blast! I'll have to send the link to my nail lady. :)

I had some mood polish... Purple & Pink Glittery. The purple was really cool, but you need to have long nails. It showed up almost white on the top part of my nails, & was darker on the longer parts like a backwards french manicure type deal because of the heat of my fingers. Very cool.

also have been looking to purchase Aferglow moodmania polish to no avail. does anyone know of a new web site?thanks

Upgraded!
It took me all of five minutes to upgrade my Movable Type and as far as I can tell, there were no problems with the upgrade. If you see anything funky, please let me know.
Also, with version 2.5, you can now automatically ping update services like bl.ogs. Just this week, I received an e-mail from Wander-Lust saying how there is a URL you can hit anytime your site is updated if you have their syndication tags in place so I figured that this would work with the new feature. I didn't get to try it out, but Kristine confirmed that it works and gave instructions on what to do.
I feel so proud that I upgraded all by myself and now I can ping all the places I want much easier. Happy birthday, MT, and thanks for all the new features!

Don't you just LOVE MT? I'm a recent convert myself. Always used GreyMatter (still using that one for the main blog, until I get round to importing it into MT, that is), but I tried out MT for a new blog just a couple of days ago and I was hooked! Much more easy, much more complete, I'm a fan! :) And the ping-option is great, always had to do the ping manually before, such a pain! ;)

Back On and Upgrading
I came home from getting my nails done and went into my office in the vain hopes that the Modem Fairy had visited and my cable modem would connect. I looked down and noticed that the cable light was solid so I clicked IE and, lo and behold!, I have Internet access again! Yeah! I am currently backing up my MT directory so I can try and upgrade MT myself (Christine has always taken care of me before). Wish me luck!

Redjellyfish Winner
Redjellyfish is a cool environmental site that has all kind of information and fun things. Occasionally they hold contests and give away totebags. They had a "ridiculously tough trivia contest" this week and I won one of the totebags. Yeah! I've tried to win their other contests, so I'm excited that I finally won one.

Daily Wrap-up
It's about time to go to the gym, so I thought I'd do a quick daily wrap-up:
- I drank all of my water today (even though it made me pee like twenty times)
- I just got first place in a poker tournament, not bad considering I haven't played in weeks
- My upper thighs and butt are killing me from doing free-weight lunges (which I despise) yesterday
- Tonight is arms and I am psyched to be working out again. Go, me!
Anyway, no more blogging for me tonight unless the Modem Fairy came by and fixed my modem while I was at work. Somehow, I doubt that happened. Have a nice night, kiddies! :-)

So Much For The Internet
So I get home from the gym last night and I go to the computer because I've been looking forward to upgrading Movable Type all afternoon in celebration of their birthday. I click Internet Explorer and get the dreaded "Page cannot be found error." I look at the cable modem and notice the cable light is out. I call RoadRunner and get connected to a very unhelpful tech guy. He asks me if the light is out, I say yes, and he tells me that that requires a tech guy and the next available appointment is October 15. WTF? A week away? I can't go without a cable connection for a week! I grudgingly make the appointment, hang up, and go bitch to Steven. Steven tells me to call back and talk to another guy since that guy is obviously an ass, so I redial the number and get connected to the nicest tech guy on the planet. After explaining to me what the cable light being out meant and why they couldn't do anything from that end, this guy was appalled that it was going to be a week before anyone could get out to see me. He bumped my ticket up to his superior to look at in the morning so he could see if he could "jar someone loose" to come and take care of me. He was so helpful that the survey RoadRunner sends out to ask you how your call was is going to be filled with glowing things about him. Hopefully we can get someone out today to get the modem fixed. It totally sucks when you can't get online!

Sadly, that's the exception, not the rule.

A New Leaf
I have been miserable lately and it's really been effecting one area - my weight. I'm probably the heaviest I've been in about five years and it's really depressing. I've been unhappy so I've fallen into the classic eat for comfort pattern. I've also not been going to the gym or StairMastering and I've stopped drinking water. I said a couple of months ago that I was going to start being better and I've only done worse.
However, I am really resolving to be better this time around. Today I drank all my water, so that's a start, and Steven and I are going to the gym in a little bit. I will do the following:
- Go to the gym three times a week
- Drink all my water while at work
- StairMaster three times a week
It's not a lot, but at least it will help get me back on track. It is time to turn over a new leaf.

Awww. I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling crappy, but at least you are taking steps to recognize and resolve the issue. Stick with it! You know the results will pay off! :)

Ok, I have a deal to make with you. We'll email each other every week and see how the other is doing. I won't drink anything carbonated, eat too many carbs or fried things, and I'll work out more. I'll watch out for you, you watch out for me, and we'll both get that georgeous body!
Posted by Annessa at October 8, 2002 09:32 PM
if you only lived closer to me... then i could be your gym or aerobics or yoga buddy.
Posted by Kathy at October 9, 2002 12:05 AM
okay, that was selfish of me... what i meant was... if only we lived closer to each other, i would be your exercise buddy. but i'm sure you knew what i meant. :)
Posted by Kathy at October 9, 2002 12:06 AM
You're not alone... I've been in the same rut. Time to get my butt into shape again (literally)!
It's good to have a buddy or a group to hold you accountable for dieting and exercising. On my first stint at dieting (last year), I used eDiets, and it worked. A big part of it for me was the support groups, plus having a structured meal plan. I need to go back to that... I've really slacked. :(
Hmm. Maybe we should hop on Christine's bandwagon...

I'm in the same place. 2 months ago I finally joined the gym and thanks to a great boss I get to go on my lunchtime and take an extra 1/2 hr (I'm salaried and works lot of extra weekends...anyway) and it has helped, but I'm still not losing like I would have 10 years ago. But at least I'm doing something. I still need to work on the food issue. I'm better, but still will have chocolate if stressed. Good luck!
Posted by sandy at October 9, 2002 08:57 AM

Posted by sphinx at October 9, 2002 10:34 AM
Awww, I think a lot of us can relate. Once you fall out of the good patterns, it's just hard to get back on track. It sounds like you've got a good plan there. Good luck with it!!
Posted by Kelly at October 9, 2002 05:11 PM
You go girl! Aren't you proud of yourself now? I was in the same rut and broke out of it over a week ago. I've been on Weight Watchers for a little over a week and I feel really good! Keep at it and I'll be rooting for you!

This-or-That Tuesday
Time for Christine's This-or-That Tuesday:
- Heroines: Ariel (Little Mermaid) or Belle (Beauty & the Beast)?
Ariel definitely. The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie period.
- More heroines: Mulan or Pocahontas?
Hmmm. I guess Mulan, but Pocahontas was cool too.
- Princesses: Snow White or Cinderella?
Cinderella. She seemed more capable than Snow White.
- Toy Story: Buzz or Woody?
Both, but if I have to choose, probably Woody.
- Animals: Simba (Lion King) or Bambi?
Simba.
- Naughty boys: Peter Pan or Pinocchio?
Pinocchio. Peter Pan always vaguely annoyed me.
- Sidekicks: Sebastian the Crab (Little Mermaid) or Jiminy Cricket (Pinocchio)?
Sebastian for sure.
- Villains: Wicked Queen (Snow White) or Cruella DeVil (101 Dalmations)?
Cruella DeVil. How can you argue with that sense of style? Besides, if she was truly a wicked queen, she would've cut Snow White's heart out on her own.
- Classics: Goofy or Pluto?
Pluto. Goofy was annoying.
- And of course: Mickey or Donald?
Definitely Donald. Mickey Mouse annoys the shit out of me, little goody two-shoes brown-noser.
