Friday Five!
I got busy yesterday and forgot to do the Friday Five, so here's my answers!
1. What size shoe do you wear? Usually a 7 1/2, but sometimes a seven.
2. How many pairs of shoes do you own? I own one pair of boots (cowboy), one pair of suede ankle boots (very casual), a pair of Reebok tennis shoes, a pair of sandals, and two or three pairs of high heels.
3. What type of shoe do you prefer (boots, sneakers, pumps, etc.)? Sandals.
4. Describe your favorite pair of shoes. Why are they your favorite? My brown suede sandals. They are my favorite because they are so comfortable. I love wearing them.
5. What's the most you've spent on one pair of shoes? Probably about $100 for my old boots.

Discovery Friday 100402
It's Friday, so that means time for another edition of Discovery Friday!
Since I had such a great time at the H-Town Bloggers get together with Jish, I decided to do a special H-Town Blogs list.
.: Being Katie - I didn't get to talk to Katie as much as I would have liked to last night, but she's so nice and interesting, you can't help but like her.
.: Coffee Corner - Mike in a few words: witty, funny, interesting, cool. Check him out.
.: Daily Ventings and Exclamations - this is the second time I've met Hanna and I really enjoy her company. She's so spirited and fun and her site is a wonderful read.
.: Photomatt - I've been reading Matt's site for a while, but for some odd reason, haven't added him to my blogroll. He's a great guy with a cool blog where he posts some MT hacks that I can't wait to try. He's also a digital photographer with the same camera as me. Check his site out; he rocks.
.: Waterlily.nu - Kathy has got to be the sweetest girl on the planet. It is absolutely a delight to meet her. It's her birthday tomorrow, so go say hi and wish her an early birthday.

Jish Meets the H-Town Bloggers
The wonderful Jish came into Houston this week, so several of the H-Town Bloggers got together to meet him at Market Square Bar & Grill. A great time was had by all (Jish really seemed to love Texas for a couple of big reasons) and I hope that Jish graces us with his presence again in the future. He was really funny, very cool, and he owns a Miata! I also got to meet several bloggers that I hadn't met before (Matt, Mike, Chuck, David, and Robert) and some that I had (Elaine, Ted, Hanna, and Kathy). So far I've had such a great time at both of the get togethers I've attended that I am going to try and not miss any future ones.
Matt (who I felt an odd kinship with since he's going to the University of Houston, attending the Honors College on an Alumni scholarship - just like me!) has his pictures of the event up and mine are up over at Picture Fish.

I blogrolled you some time back. Still waiting for reciprocation.

Emperor, maybe she doesn't like your blog, that's why she didn't link ya. ;-)
How do you know when someone adds you to the blogroll? I use blogrolling but don't understand it.
Posted by trish at October 4, 2002 12:40 PM
You can do a search and see how many people have linked you or if you're in the top 100 (you're 37), you can click on "linked by" and see who's linked you.

I'll blogroll you if you blogroll me.
email me and I will make it so.

It's a Group Thing XXXI
I cannot believe that I forgot to do my "It's a Group Thing" term yesterday. Since I forgot for the first time since I started doing this back in the beginning of March, today will be a double term day.
Jeanna and I had such a great time in Galveston this weekend at Moody Garden's Toadally Frogs exhibit, so today's "It's a Group Thing" terms are:

MP3 Player Question
Several months ago I won an mp3 player in Southwestern Bell's Digital Madness Sweepstakes. It finally came in on Monday, but I haven't really had a chance to look at it until today. I listen to my mp3s on Winamp at both work and home and don't really want to carry an mp3 player around in the gym (even though this one is tiny). What I was really hoping is that I could get a converter thing and play them through my car's radio. The mp3 player is a RCA RD1000 Kazoo, so if anyone knows if this could be done, could you let me know? Thanks!

This link has a couple that will allow you to plug into the headphone jack of the MP3 player and then feed the output into your car stereo. There is one with a cassette plugin and another that uses a tiny FM transmitter (for if your car has only a CD player):
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-0Yhb2UY2ClQ/ProdGroup.asp?c=3&s=0&g=771&o=m&tn=1&td=1&l=&a=
hope that helps,
clayton

Yah, that's what I was going to suggest. Our car only has a radio so we plug the transmitter into the headphone jack of the mp3 or cd player, sit it up on the dash and try to find a good radio station to get it to come through nice and clear. We got it at radio shack and it works great. Only problem with ours is the switch on the transmitter switches on too easily so the batteries do not last.

Kind of Quiet
I was looking over my posts from the last few days and I haven't had a whole lot to say (I even skipped the Monday Mission and This-Or-That Tuesday) since the weekend. I think it's a combo of being tired from doing a lot on my mini-vacation (like walking six hours on Saturday alone), being up early the last two weekends in a row, worrying about a lot of issues at work, being out really late a few nights this week already, and not getting enough sleep. For the first time since July 21st I failed to even put a picture a day into Picture Fish, though I do have forty-eight ready to be put in from my trip. I actually think I may be a bit depressed (the overeating and lack of energy are my biggest clues). I'm hoping that I'm going to be able to shake this funk pretty soon and get back into the swing of things. It's shitty when you're just down enough to be miserable and have no energy.

Reasons For Love #3
It's Wednesday, so it's time for Bea's Reasons For Love!
I love Steven because...
- Even though he had just come back from the store, he left again and got me soup last night because I didn't feel good and made if for me for dinner
- He always peels me an orange when I want one
- He was so excited when he found out his new car had a voice activation system and it was so cute
- When I lamented about my poor rating on Pogo's new game Hammerhead Pool, he told me I'd only been playing a few days and would get better

Happy Birthday, Sheila!
Today is that tart Sheila's birthday. We have a ton of stuff in common (especially the books we read; I've currently gotten her hooked on the Anita Blake books by Laurell K. Hamilton) and I think she is just a super cool person. Take a moment and go wish her a happy birthday. Happy birthday, Sheila! May it be filled with lots of love, cake, and books! (Btw, From a Buick 8 is better than Dreamcatcher.)

That New Car Smell
Today turned out to be quite an interesting Monday. Steven has been mulling over buying a new car (pre-owned, but new to him) ever since he paid his car off back in July. He'd been looking at the Mercedes CLK430s, but wasn't sure if he wanted to upgrade (he had a C230). The salesman called today and, since it was the end of the month, they were able to reach a good deal using his car as a trade in, so now we've got this gorgeous silver 2002 CLK430. It's a pimped out model with the navigation system, electric every thing, dual climate controls, laser encoded key, integrated phone system; basically, the works. It's too dark to take pictures, so I'll have to get some tomorrow. It's a super sweet car. It's always so exciting to get a new vehicle!

Oh cool! I have a mid-eighties mercedes, but one of these days, like when I get a job, I'd like to upgrade to one of these. Make sure to take a picture of yourself in the mirror!

Participation Positives
It's Monday, so time to start the week out right with Jess's Participation Positives!
- I had a great mini-vacation with Jeanna and it was just what I needed
- I found a great little charity thing that I am mailing my check in for today - Adopt-An-Animal at Moody Gardens. I am adopting a poison dart frog.
- I bought some great stuff in Galveston - a cute purple shirt from Moody Gardens, a pretty pair of earrings, a fat peppermint striped cat ornament that is so adorable, a hex sign stained glass thing to hang in my window, and a birthday gift for Jeanna
- I took some really awesome photos in Galveston this weekend
- My ring was found last week and I am still psyched about it
- I got my bracelet back from B! Beads and it fits perfectly. I also got my new earrings and they are beautiful
- I won $50 on a lottery ticket when I was buying a Cherry Coke
- It's time for the new season of shows to start and ER and Alias are going to kick ass
- I got the new Anita Blake book, Narcissus in Chains
- Something at work may get changed and I will be very happy if it does
- I love and am loved

Good things happen to those who drink Cherry Coke! Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! :)

I'm totally with you on the ER and Alias thing - although add in Survivor, Amazing Race, and Six Feet Under, and you've got my TV lineup. :)
So did the "unexpected event" in the premiere of ER this fall take your breath away too?? Gotta say I wasn't expecting that...

I think this is fitting for more than just the similarities in the name. ;-)

Back From the Beach
I've been back home for a couple of hours, but I had to eat and I wanted to finish reading From a Buick 8 since I didn't have a lot left.
I had a wonderful time in Galveston with Jeanna, like I always do. We spent over four hours at Moody Gardens, had the best pizza in the world at Mario's on the seawall, watched fish leap out of the water at night (and speculated that maybe it was because of sharks and stayed in very shallow water), bought a ton of useless, but cool, goodies, and laughed, laughed, and laughed. I so needed this weekend and wish I could have stayed there the rest of this week with Jeanna.
I've got a ton of e-mails to catch up on, about 110 pictures from Friday and Saturday to download and edit, some blog reading to catch up on, and I really want to play some Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, so enjoy the rest of your Sunday afternoon, kiddies.
