Pop-Ups Everywhere!

I've been getting tons of pop-ups lately that have http://nitrous.internetfuel.com/adconsoles in them. I guess I have got a program installed somewhere, but I have no idea what or where. Does anyone know what is causing all these ads and how to get rid of them?

Eight From The Eighties

Here's Deb's Eight From The Eighties!

1) Are you under pressure? Yes, constantly. I a the project manager for just about all our clients and one or two of them are very high paying, high maintenance clients. I also take a lot of professional pride in my job and making my clients happy, so some of the pressure, granted, is pressure I put on myself.

2) Are you tuff enuff? Yes, I think. :-)

3) Are you a material girl/boy? To an extent. I want a really nice house, a nice car, and lots of things like computers, StairMasters, etc.

4) Do you pump up the volume, pump up the volume, etc.? Oh, yeah. As a matter of fact, just before we went to dinner, I had my Klipsch computer speakers turned way up.

5) No, my first name ain't baby, it's... Kimberly, or Kymberlie as I spell it.

6) I would die 4... another vacation!

7) I haven't ________ for the longest time. Dressed up and gone out (except for "O") in quite a while. Our weekends have become so casual.

8) Ever get on the floor and do the New Kids dance? Nope, not that I can recall.

Saturday Scruples

Here's the last edition of Marsha's Saturday Scruples.

1. you are filling out your income tax form. do you declare every cent you are supposed to declare? Nope. (I hope no IRS auditors are reading this!) I game girled for a couple of weeks at an underground poker game (served people food and drinks for tips) and I never declared that money.

2. you find an expensive pen in a public lounge. do you keep it? If no one is looking for it and it doesn't have a name on it, yep.

3. a grisly murder in your area causes an outcry and a referendum on capital punishment. do you vote to restore the death penalty? We already have capital punishment (this is Texas, after all) and personally I am for the death penalty. I would vote yes if we didn't have it.

Blackout!

Our lights have been out all day, but they have finally come back on. I swear, our condo complex must have the touchiest transformers in the world. Every street around us - electricity. Our complex - blackout. Drives me crazy. We have a neighbor who's alarm has been going off now for at least a half hour. I hope they come home soon and shut the damn thing off. At least I can surf again!

I Got Better

The problems I was worrying about in the last post turned out not to be problems at all. Everything is hunky-dory, I'm sitting in front of the computer in my underwear, and the drinking is about to commence. God, I love Fridays.

And, yes, Christine. You were right. Everything was okay. :-)

Arrrrgggghhhh!

Ever have one of those days that you just know is going to turn out bad and it does? I am in limbo waiting to hear from a client, imaging the myriad of things that will go wrong in the conversation. I was so relaxed when I was on vacation and now I'm back to my stiff-as-a-board neck and shoulders. Next time I go on vacation, I'm taking the whole fucking week off.

Friday Five!

And now, time for today's Friday Five!

1. What are your hobbies? Reading, computer games, the Internet (duh), and playing Texas Hold 'Em poker.

2. Do you collect anything? If so, what? Beanie Babies. I have far too many of them, but I keep on buying them. I am obsessed. Help! For some weird reason, I am also into Hallmark Keepsake ornaments and ornaments from The Discovery Channel Store. Especially weird considering I don't have a Christmas tree.

3. Is there a hobby you're interested in, but just don't have the time/money to do? I think I would really like to try my hand at photography. I have a digital camera (currently broken), but I never really go anywhere that offers good opportunities to take great pictures.

4. Have you ever turned a hobby into a moneymaking opportunity? When the Net still had a lot of good reward programs I would get tons of CDNow and Amazon gift certificates, cash for surfing, and other prizes. I never made a ton of money, but I did probably make a couple of hundred dollars a month.

5. Besides web-related stuff (burbs, rings, etc.), what clubs do you belong to? None.

Pressurized For Your Comfort

While leaving on the plane Sunday, Steven and I were listening to the flight attendant (on video now) go through the what to do in an emergency spiel. At one point she said, "The cabin is pressurized for your comfort." Steven said to me, "And your survival." I completely cracked up. Who knew that pressurizing the plane was only for your comfort? Silly me! I thought that kept us from dying!

Now Where Did That Rambaldi Artifact Go?

Thanks to the wonderful Tivo, I just found out that Alias reruns on the Fox Family channel on Friday nights. I happened to check and see if Alias was going to be a rerun this weekend and noticed that last Sunday's episode that I missed is coming on tomorrow night. I really love the show, but with only a few episodes of The X-Files left, I Tivod The X-Files instead. Yeah for current shows that rerun during the week!

Note to ABC: Give me a way to skip that flash intro already! I've sat through it twice now.

Monday Mission 2.16

Since I was in Vegas on Monday and Promoguy was guest blogging, I think I'd better do PromoGuy's Monday Mission 2.16:

1. Ever had a love that you still think of as "the one that got away?" What's the story there? No, not really. I had a boyfriend in middle school who I broke up with because he never kissed me. Years later, when I was going through a very painful break-up, I called him up to help me make it through. We ended up getting very flirty with one another, but he had a girlfriend. In the end, it worked out for the best. Though he's a really nice guy, I don't think I would be able to be the outspoken, very cut-to-the-chase kind of person that I am now.

2. What was the last book that you finished reading cover-to-cover? I finished two while in Vegas: Necroscope III: The Source by Brian Lumley and Freezer Burn by Joe R. Lansdale.

3. Did you ever get up and walk out of a movie? Which one and why? I never have, though I wanted to at Random Hearts. God, that movie sucked.

4. If we were to go out dancing, what song would you want me to ask the DJ to play as I slipped him a $20? To bump and grind to, it has to be The Red Hot Chili Pepper's cover of "Love Rollercoaster." I request that song just about every time we go dancing. I love it!

5. What was the coolest toy you had when you were a kid? The Voltron Lions toy. It kicked ass.

6. When was the last time you felt lonely? Probably a couple of weeks ago on a Thursday. Steven plays poker on Thursday nights, so I'm usually by myself. Most of the time it's cool - I catch up on shows on the Tivo, play poker online, dominoes, blog, whatever. I've been having some problems at work, though, so it was after a particularly stressful day and I could have used someone to cuddle with.

7. Do you have any minor anal-retentive character traits? Tons, more than likely. One of the weirder ones is that I have this strange obsession with ripping paper straw wrappers into even parts. Ask Christine. I do this all the time at lunch.

BONUS: Can't you see what I mean? I try to always see what people mean.

Apparently I need to get a life. I just received an e-mail from a TressaLynn@aol.com. The subject was "get a life! please" and the body was "thankyou!" Very strange, random e-mail to get. Thursday Threesome

Time for Deb's Thursday Threesome!

Onesome. The Good. Read a good book lately? Recommend a recent read - as well as your favorite book of all time. Probably the best book that I've read lately (out of the twenty or so I've read so far this year) would have to be The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. It was such an amazing story of life and of women. I loved it. My favorite book of all time would probably be Stephen King's It. The characters in that story are so strong and their relationships so gripping that I fall in love with it every time I pick it up.

Twosome. The Bad. Was it so bad that you couldn't watch anymore? Tell us about a bad movie - did you leave or suffer through it? (Videos can count, too) I have to agree with Trish and say Random Hearts. I'm sure there's been other movies, but that one was just so terrible. Maybe if we hadn't seen American Beauty first (we snuck in) it wouldn't have been so bad, but I really hated that one. Oh! The Lord of the Rings! I totally hated that movie too. I know it won a ton of Oscars and all, but I thought it was extremely boring.

Threesome. And The Ugly. And then things turned ugly.... Oh, have a day (or date) seem to go so horribly wrong it can only be described as "ugly"? Tell us all about it. I guess I'm lucky in that regard because I've never really dated. I went from a long-term relationship with a guy from high school to swearing off men for over a year, and then I met Steven and we've been together ever since.

Home Again, Home Again

Steven and I are back from Vegas. We didn't loose too much money gambling (me - about $120; him - about $200) and had a lot of fun, so all in all, it was a successful trip. I relaxed, completely let go of work issues, and just enjoyed being with Steven.

"O", Cirque du Soleil's show at the Bellagio, was incredible. The set, the acts, the water - all of it was stunning. We had incredible tickets since we booked through the poker room, and while expensive, they were well-worth it. I would highly recommend this show if you happen to be in Vegas. Even though this was our fourth trip together, this was our first time to see a show, so that was a new experience as well.

Our room was on the twenty-eighth floor, so we had an excellent view of the Fountains of Bellagio. As soon as we get our pictures back, I'll put some of them up.

I would like to thank Promoguy for taking care of The Neurotic Fishbowl while I was away. He did a great job and I really appreciate his guest appearance. :-)

It's late, I'm tired, and we still need to unpack. I hope everyone's had a great week and expect more posts tomorrow (though maybe not a lot of them since I have to catch up with work and have about a billion e-mails to go through). Good night!

Ahh, it was nice visiting this crazy fishbowl, I had a nice time. I hope I didn't mess up the place too bad.

Thanks to everyone for visiting while I took care of the joint. Kymberlie will be returning soon, tonight I think, and I may not be back on to wrap things up, so thought I'd do so now.

And also thanks to the Big Fish herself. It was an honor to guest Blog here Kymberlie, I'd come back anytime. Thanks for trusting me with your Blog.

Take care everyone, and remember to visit Promo land once in a while.

OK, well, The Amazing Race is 2-hours, so I have a lot to do before I can free up all that time.

See you!

Monday Mission 2.16

Since Kymberlie isn't here to post her Mission, I figured I would post mine. So, here we go:

Monday Mission 2.16

1. Ever had a love that you still think of as "the one that got away?" What's the story there?

Hmmm, well she didn't so much get away as someone else had gotten there first (and decided to stay and is still there - lucky summana bastich).

2. What was the last book that you finished reading cover-to-cover?

It was the second Promise Keepers book, I can't recall the title at the moment.

3. Did you ever get up and walk out of a movie? Which one and why?

Yep, Natural Born Killers. My date didn't want to go, thinking it may get better. After 20 minutes of more splattering brains and blood, she agreed and we left. Maybe it was satire, but I was totally grossed out.

4. If we were to go out dancing, what song would you want me to ask the DJ to play as I slipped him a $20?

If I did that, who would I be dancing with? Me? "Dancing wif myself -ah oh ohhh!" It would be an 80's song, probably "New Sensation" extended by INxs, "Wishing Well" extended by Terence Trent D'arby, "What's on Your Mind" by Information Society, "U Can't Touch This" by (MC) Hammer or "You Spin Me Round Like A Record" by Dead Or Alive. I'm such an 80's child.

5. What was the coolest toy you had when you were a kid?

My Six Million Dollar Man doll with the grip-action arm, the hole-in-his-head eyehole to see far away and the roll-up skin so you can take out his bionics. So cool!

6. When was the last time you felt lonely?

That implies that I have stopped feeling lonely. Can't say that I've stopped really. It gets buried under daily routines and other distractions, but it is still there.

7. Do you have any minor anal-retentive character traits?

All the shirts in my closet must have the top button buttoned, with the collars facing left and the hangers with the hook facing the rack bar. I'm sure there are others, but that's one I've had for a long time now.

BONUS: Can't you see what I mean?

Ow, might as well Jump. Go ahead and jump!

Hey y'all....

Your old pal Promo here to take care of the place while Kymberlie is taking some well deserved time away.

I thought I might tip you off to a cool find I made today, a free font!
