Friday Recap and Weekend Plans
Today's been a pretty good day. We had a client meeting that lasted until lunch, but we plotted what work needs to be done for next week and hopefully we won't have another 2 AM launch.
Steven and I had lunch today and then we went over to the PetSmart by my office to look at the fish. We decided that we'll go have lunch at Chinese Cafe tomorrow and then go to Aquarium World (or as I like to call it - The Big Fish Store) to see what fish they have. Since we've lost three guys, all we have left is Arnold, the ryukin, and the pearlscale. The pearlscale and ryukin are too small for the fifty-five gallon tank, so we need more fish. After that we will probably swing back by the PetSmart and get one of the calico orandas that I think are just so cute. Hopefully, we'll find some new cute guys who we'll actually be able to keep alive!
I'm meeting Jeanna and Trish tonight to see A Beautiful Mind and then we'll probably head out to dinner somewhere. I haven't seen Trish since January, so it'll be good to see her again. Plus, she has my birthday present. ;-)
Anyway, it's starting out to be a nice weekend, so I hope everyone else has a great Friday night!

Friday Five!
And now, time for today's Friday Five!
1. If you could eat dinner with and "get to know" one famous person (living or dead), who would you choose? Stephen King. I cannot get enough of his writing and from the autobiographical stuff I've read of his he sounds like a really nice, down-to-earth guy that I would enjoy hanging out with.
2. Has the death of a famous person ever had an effect on you? Who was it and how did you feel? I remember being at work at the Hell Known as Foley's when I heard about Princess Diana being in an accident. My best friend and I went to the movies after work and came out and heard she had died. I wasn't crushed or anything, but I was very sad that someone so young and beautiful with such a good heart had to die. I remember feeling very sorry for her sons and hoping they would get through it okay.
3. If you could BE a famous person for 24 hours, who would you choose? Maybe Jennifer Aniston. She's so pretty and she's married to Brad Pitt.
4. Do people ever tell you that you look like someone famous? Who? Someone once told me I smile like Melanie Griffith, but I don't really think so.
5. Have you ever met anyone famous? I was in a commercial with Mary Lou Retton for "Super Bowling Saturday" when I was maybe about ten. My uncle actually was a sparring partner for George Foreman when he won the heavyweight title several years ago, so I've met him a couple of times.

Thursday Threesome
I found a new weekly thing to add to the blog: Deb's Thursday Threesome.
Onesome. Bed. You spend a few hours a night there, so tell us about your bed - size, favorite sheets, comforter...oh, and do you make it or leave it unmade? We have a king size rake bed from Kincaid's Ducks Unlimited collection with a pillow-top matress. It is absolutely the most comfortable bed in the world. We have plain white sheets and a synthetic down comforter. It's a great wonderful bed which I never make. :-)
Twosome. Bath. OK. How much time does it take you to get "ready" on the average day - from first step into the bathroom to stepping out fully dressed. I am Ms. Speedy in the morning. I shower at night since my hair is so long and takes forever to dry. It takes me between twenty and thirty minutes to put on make-up, get dressed, and brush my hair.
Threesome. Beyond. What is your favorite room / area of your home? Tell us all about it. That would have to be my computer room. I have an awesome desk with my computer and kick-ass speakers so I can listen to music. We've also got a really comfortable leather chair with ottoman and a tv. Great room.

It's a Group Thing: Part IV
I choose today's "It's a Group Thing" term because I received a third bill for the tests I had run back in January, one from the radiologist that determined what my test result meant. I thought it was only fitting that I use:

A Better Day
After staying at work so late last night, today has been a much better day, though I am bone tired. I got some good news regarding something I'd been waiting to hear about (let's just say it impacts my spending money), and am pretty pleased. The client is really happy with her launch, so that's always a plus. It's been a lot less hectic today and I am very glad. Now I just need a nap.

what fun! I used to be able to write in a similar language - these guys in high school taught me how so I could neatly write all of their book covers for them LOL!
Posted by kristine at March 27, 2002 05:33 PM
hey, I found this reference page and i have seen that "write your name in runes" website before, also! There's a few other websites just like that, but i think it's better learning experience to make a list of the runes and their letter interpretations and piece together the words/names/etc yourself. I'm of viking decent and i'm excited to find others who are interested in Vikings and the norse backrounds also! have fun researching and if you need any info or help or anything, please feel free to email me at leebee879@yahoo.com! god bless!

Another Death in the Family
I got home from work last night at about 2:30 in the morning (sucks, doesn't it?) and went to turn off the fish tank lights. I noticed that I didn't see the red cap oranda anywhere and went to check the big tank to see if he had been moved. He passed away yesterday morning, but Steven didn't want to tell me since my day was long and hard enough. We are now down to Arnold, the small pearlscale, and the ryukin. A mass extinction has occured and I am very sad. :-(
Rest in peace Groucho and Red Cap.

This is me to a tee. I can't count the number of times that I've been drunk and crying at dinner and Steven says, "You've got to stop crying when you drink or people are going to think I'm a total ass to you." I am a neurotic drunk, which is only fitting since I live in a neurotic fishbowl.
What kind of drunk are you?
"But I thought he liked me. It was all going so well. I can't take it, you know? Not again. Why me, you know? My life is so fucking shit. I'm just a worthless piece of nothing shit. Everything I do is shit, or it turns to shit, or I turn it to shit."

Duh-bya Bush For Sure!
I decided to do a search today for the highest IQ score on record just to see what it is and I cam across this article that says President Bush has lowest IQ of all presidents of past 50 years. I must say, I am not at all surprised to find out that he is actually lower that 100, which is the average IQ score. They said that Bush has a 6,500 word vocabulary versus an average of 11,000 words for other presidents. Do you think that includes the ones he makes up? Love the fact that Democratic presidents actually average 40 points higher than the Republicans. I was surprised how smart some of the presidents are. Scores in the 170s and 180s are very rare and very high. Btw, my scores average around 160. I am one smart cookie! :-)
Update: Damn! I've been busted! According to Snopes, this story is just not true. Well, it just SEEMED like it had to be true. Oh, well. It was still good for a laugh! ~blushing sheepishly~

Monday Mission 2.12
Here's PromoGuy's Monday Mission 2.12:
1. What helps you get started every morning?
Caffeine. Lots and lots of caffeine. Got to have that Coke in the morning.
2. What is the most memorable thing anyone has ever made for you?
My buddy Justin used to make me really cool mix tapes and mail them to me out of the blue.
3. What music are you currently listening to in your car?
I was listening to Hack by Information Society for the past week or so, but this afternoon I switched to the Hackers soundtrack.
4. One thing I like to do is buy USA Today on Wed, Thur and Fri. Even if I don't have the money, I will find a way to buy them, because I just love reading them. What is one "splurge" you allow yourself, even when you shouldn't?
My answers going to sound kind of bitchy, but I have enough spending money and don't really have anything that I've had to scrimp on.
5. Have you ever been given a "second chance?" What happened and did you make the most of it?
Hmmmm. Not that I can think of.
6. Do you have a lot of friends outside of your own ethnic background?
I guess not, but honestly, I only have a small group of friends. I know, sounds sad.
7. What was the last situation that really, really pissed you off?
I actually am currently in a situation at work that is pissing me off. Let's just leave it at that.
BONUS: Who's your friend when things get rough?
HR Pufnstuff!

Heartbroken....
For some reason our panda moore has become deathly ill in the last few hours. He's not swimming and just kind of floating, letting the current move him about. I put him in a big bowl so that he won't have to fight any currents from the pumps and now he is laying on his side at the top of the bowl bearly breathing. He was fine last night! I swear to god, I don't know why we are cursed when it comes to fish like we are. We do frequent water changes, vary their diets, take great care of them, and they die. I am so very sad. The panda moore has been my favorite fish.
Update: He has passed away now. My poor fish. :-(

I Declare Human Life to be an Abomination!
Which Colossal Death Robot Are You?
In bars frequented by colossal death robots, you're always the quiet guy at the back who no-one ever bothers. And for good reason. You've fought in several nuclear wars, could beat the sun in a staring match, and have a chin larger than many articles of furniture. Morals are not a concept you understand, but strangely enough, nobody ever questions your judgement. Usually because they're dead. Even Judge Dredd wets himself when you turn up. Grrrr.
