The Weekly Ramble

It's been a little over a week since I poseted last (where does the time go?), so here's a long rambling post on various stuff.

* First of all, I'm a panelist on Mikey's version of the Match Game, so go over there and see how many of my answers you can match.

* Been feeling much better since my lithotripsy. Saw my urologist (hee!) last week and he said the stone broke up nicely, but there's still a few pieces that fell back into my kidneys. He said we should zap them again, but I said not if it was going to cost me another $3,000. It looks like my new insurance with Six Apart is much better than the crappy stuff I have through COBRA, so it may only cost me a couple of hundred dollars with them. I need to find out if this is considered pre-existing soon.

* Got my findings from the chiropractor today (six week check-up). I've improved dramatically in all of the tests that they did (big clue being now I can stand upright, which I totally couldn't do when I first went there). I've still got some issues with my shoulders (not surprising since they hurt all the time, just about), but he thinks they'll be able to fix them up. We also looked at my x-rays and it always freaks me out a little bit to see my bones like that, especially my skull. Weird.

* Went to Sambuca last night to hear Norma Zenteno (she rocks) with Irfan, Jenn, Seth, and Marc. Lots of fun, though Norma didn't sing as much as I thought she would. Met her sister-in-law in the bathroom, though. I'm hoping that Jenn and I can make this a twice a month thing.

* Finally got to see Battle Royale and I loved it. That film totally rocked. See it if you get a chance.

* I also saw The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy a few weeks back and while I thought it was good, I didn't love it like I was hoping I would. I thought the casting was excellent (especially Sam Rockwell), but I found how they did Zaphod's extra head very weird and the whole addition of John Malkovich's character distracted me because I kept thinking, "That's so not in the book." Plus all the little asides that make the book so funny didn't make it in. I need to find my copy and reread it.

* The Houston Chronicle made the move to Movable Type for their blogs. Good choice, Dwight! :)

* The Art Car Parade is tomorrow. Katie and I are going down there together and then she's headed to Galveston with her family and I'm headed to a party with Irfan. Should be lots of fun.

* Woo hoo! It's Friday, and a Friday the Thirteenth at that! Yeah for the weekend!

I'm sure there's other stuff that I've been meaning to blog about, but I'm tired (getting to bed around 2:00 and then waking up at 3:30 for a while will do that to you), so I'm going to go relax in the big chair and watch Without a Trace. I am still totally in love with Anthony LaPaglia.

As long as you haven't had a lapse in insurance coverage, you should be covered with your new insurance. And thank goodness that is the case, because the company I work for has been negotiating every year with different companies for our insurance benefits. It would really suck to have a new list of things I'd have to list as preexisting conditions everything they switch insurance providers.

Glad you're feeling better.

Thanks for the tip on DoSomething... it's much better than the iTunes plugin I was using.

Norma sang a lot in the first 2 sets before you arrived.
