Toronto Happy Hour
Last night's Toronto Happy Hour to welcome Rannie and Jay to Houston was simply fabulous. I got to see a lot of old friends (Christine, Mike, Matt, Kathy, Elaine, Angela, Emily, and Katie) and meet a lot of new ones (Gil, girl and guy from Heterophobic, Pat and her sister Carmen, Irfan, Julie, and a few others that I'm blanking on URLs for right now).
It was so wonderful to finally meet Rannie and Jay after reading their blogs for so long. Rannie was just like I thought he would be and Jay was fabulous as well. He even helped me scout out cute guys. What a guy, huh?
Emily and I, of course, did our requisite shot at the bar so that we could flirt with Josh, the hunky bartender. She was then a good enough pal to go with me to the table of this adorable Canadian who was having dinner by himself and pretend to get a page so I could chat him up for a bit by myself. Shame he wasn't local; he was damn cute.
Carmen and I talked forever about stuff. She is just too fun and must be indoctrinated into the ways of blogging soon. She'd be a hoot to read. In the meantime, check out Pat instead. What fun girls!
In case I haven't mentioned it before, I just adore Matt. He has got to be one of the greatest guys that I know. The contacts look great too, btw, Matt.
As always, these H-Town get togethers are just too much fun. I'm glad I finally broke out of my shell and started going to these things. If you live in a big city (or even if you don't), you really ought to look into organizing a chapter of your own local bloggers. Bloggers are more than just geeks; we're fun, social geeks. ;-)

.: Julie said on March 15, 2004 09:02 PM :: link it :.Okay, you now have me offically jealous. These get togethers do sound like a complete blast, fun enough for me to want to start a local chapter in my own little (Big?) town, Detroit Rock City.
Maybe one day, MotownBlogs will exist...see if there are any Detroiters out there blogging.
