SUVs From Hell

Joelle's post reminded me that I haven't bitched on here about my new least favorite people on Earth - those idiots that have bought the monstrosity known as the Hummer 2.

I see these things all over the place and I can't figure out what the fuck you need one of these for in Houston. It's not like this is jungle terrain with huge mountains and treacherous hazards. Hummer 2s don't fit in a parking space and they barely fit in a normal lane on the road. I hate SUVs anyway, but the size of this excessive gas guzzler (gets a whooping 8 to 10 miles per gallon) drives me insane. I can't see around them, I can't park next to them, and people that drive them always tend to be assholes who think the rules don't apply to them.

I was heading towards The Galleria and was stopped in a long line of traffic to get onto the feeder which always happens around rush hour. This fucker in a Hummer decides that his time is too precious to wait, so he drives his car off the highway, over the little grassy hill, and on to the feeder bypassing like fifteen cars. What the fuck made you so special that you don't have to wait like everyone else?

It kills me how people buy these things and spout about how safe they are. Yes, safe for you, but you're going to kill anyone you hit, even in a relatively minor crash. Crashes between an SUV, particularly one of this size, become exponentially more dangerous for the other driver.

For the love of god, people, get rid of these over-priced, dangerous, ecological nightmares and drive a sensible car.

there's a lot of hummers in SD too... man, it must cost $100 just to fill up on gas for one of those things.

at least some of the hummers i see around here are like, dirty. you just KNOW that if someone's driving around in a sparkling hummer, well... he's either got a small penis or is going thru a mid-life crisis.

I don't really see a need for a hummer in any non-military situation. It's ugly, it's way too big, it's hugely fuel inefficient and it's a danger to those driving around it if driven improperly.

During a previous Colorado snowstorm, the police contacted a local hummer dealership to find out who had them so they could ask the owners to help clear paths so fire & rescue could get out to help people.

Ok...Lisa makes me feel guilty as maybe they can be helpful...but Kymberlie I agree...here in Oklahoma they just seem to be driven by rude people!

When we were in Las Vegas in Feb., those monsters seemed to be a dime a dozen. I guess when the big boys play with them ("Ill be back" Arnold started the fancy) all the other boys want one too -

you've noticed them, too, Kymberlie! i see them everywhere, too! and they do hog up the road. and i know that you have a small car (Miata) and i have a small car, too (2-door Civic Coupe)... i wonder how they even fit in the garage... and fuck those who have the noisy F350's! there's one that parks across the driveway (and i mean sideways) on our neighbor's house... what a ruckus! there's no street courtesy anymore.

I don't know what they need one for in LIFE! That is why we are at war.

Lisa makes a good point, but here in LA it hasn't snowed since like 1939 or something.

Fear is having an H2 tailgate you while you're on a 600cc motorcycle. And they do...alot.

.: sean said on April 1, 2003 03:51 PM :: link it :.

Snowstorms do not legitimize domestic use of the H2. People should be prepared for snowstorms, and emergency management crews should be able to provide proper service even in adverse weather conditions; that's why we pay our taxes right?

I'm must agree, the vast majority of Hummer owners are fucking assholes.

Here in the UK, can't even fill up my Disco (Landrover Discovery) for £100 (GBP), and that's diesel!
