Customer Service
Kelly has a rant about customer disservice on her website. I thought I would take a minute and mention the fine customer service that I received this week from Amazon.
I ordered a book for Steven almost a month ago (The Naked Chef Takes Off by Jaime Oliver) and it still hasn't shipped. I e-mailed their customer service to see if I could get an actual date for the shipment and received a very nice e-mail back explaining that the computer had somehow had messed it up so that the item wasn't coming up in their shipping computers, but that he had fixed it manually and would make sure that it shipped right away. Not only that, he included a $5.00 gift certificate for my trouble and concluded the letter by saying how he knew that they had screwed up and he hoped that they would allow me to prove in the future that they could meet my needs. I checked my order status and it appears that the book will ship tomorrow.
All in all, it was a great letter and included a little gift to help smooth the incident over. If all customer service requests went like this, I'm sure a lot more people would be happier with the retail and service industry.

Why can't I ever get customer service reps like that? The one I talk to always make it seem like they'd rather beat me with a salami than be nice. Argh.
.: Nicole said on October 14, 2002 08:29 AM :: link it :.I have had the same experience with Amazon: nothing but positive. It's interesting, though, that so many people have had the opposite experience.
I often wonder if they look at my purchasing history before replying. Hehe. With the amount of stuff I buy at Amazon, they probably say "woah ... treat this girl right!" ;)
